It sounds more like he was being drafted for the Penn St. job than persuing it.
Reminds me of a joke I once heard. This millionare bought a house in a swanky neighborhood with a huge swimming pool in his back yard. One night soon after he moved in he invited everyone in the subdivision to a party. Well, at the party he asked everyone to walk into the back yard. He opened a curtain to the pool & they had this 16' alligator in the pool. He figured he'd have a little fun with his guests so he offered the keys to his brand new Lamborghdini & a million dollars to anyone who would jump into the pool & swim to a ladder on the deep end with the gator in the pool.
About that time there was a splash & one of his neighbors was swimming like an olympian to the ladder & jumping out. Well the host was so impressed he goes over to the guy & ask him man you must really love Lamoghdinis, to which the guy said hell no. He then asked the guy if he needed the money that bad & he said that aint it either. The guy then said well what did he want for doing it, to which the man replied I want the name of the SOB who pushed me into the pool!
Yep, We all drank the Kool-aid and it tasted GOOD all the way down!!!! I cant wait to drink some stiff Kool-aid in N.O. and next year's flavor too! Whoever brews it I am sure it will be BETTER THAN THIS SEASON!
Don't we all know Hud is leaving? Isn't it a realization that he won't retire here?
Come on guys. You bash him one way.. you bash him the other. So he doesn't say he is staying forever.... Bowl game in 15 days.
Does anyone know of any players to decommit from UL so far?
First, I'm not bashing him one way or the other. So don't start pointing fingers at folks and claiming they're coming at him from every direction. But, I am calling a spade a spade. Everyone that seems content with the idea that he'd be here a year, well good for you. There are plenty of people, myself included that expected a couple of years. I never expected that he'd stay forever. I hoped he stay long-term, but never expected forever. Based on his enthusiasm and rhetoric, I thought we had a coach that would spend a few years here "building". In one year, do you really think he's 'built' anything? Me either. He's done great, and for that we are all very grateful. But he's 'built' nothing yet.
It's people like you that are making easy for him to avoid the topic. Anytime he's been pressed, he hides behind the bowl game. He knows all he has to do is say "we're concentrating on the bowl game" and the fan's eyes glaze over in a zombie sort of contentment. I'm sorry but that doesn't get him a pass on this particular topic as far as i'm concerned. I want him to WANT to be here as much as he said he did when he took the job. Frankly, i'm insulted that he considered Ole Miss.
If he had not put himself into the Ole Miss running, I could forgive the MSU talk. I actually understand his connection and desire for MSU. If Ole Miss had never factored into this, I could find understanding for that one. But, that's not how it went down. He was willing to consider the crappiest job in the SEC as an alternative to what he started here.
I like Hud. I want him here as much as he said he wanted to be here. I'm proud of his accomplishment here. I especially proud of THE PROGRAM's accomplishment this year under him. But, I'm not gonna sit back and gaze through "bowl-colored" glasses and give him a pass everytime the press asks him about these coaching interviews.
Jesus, guys.... to paraphrase J1M, can you please shut down some of the estrogen flow in here? Hud is still our coach today. We have a bowl game in two weeks. No recruit has decommited so far as anyone knows. Mullen is still at MSU, for Christ sake, and Hud isn't going anywhere else. Take a couple of deep breaths and relax.
Yes, I posted what happened in the "Bowl Deposits" thread last night.
