Thread: Bad shooting plaguing Cajuns

UL Basketball Cajuns favored by 2 against Charlotte

Experts have Cajuns as the favorite in this game.

I hope they know what they are talking about.

Actually, Charlotte has not been so impressive with 4-3 start, including blowout loss to bad Miss St. team, 52-38. They did beat Ga St. on road by 5 in the only common opponent game.

Cajuns will have to step up game big time to win and be able to handle the ball for the full 40 minutes.

Charlotte is struggling a bit, whereas Cajuns so far are struggling a lot. Hope that changes.

  2. UL Basketball Bad shooting plaguing Cajuns

LOUISIANA La. -- It doesn't take long for University of Louisiana basketball coach Robert Lee to analyze why his team is 0-3.

Lee's Cajuns have opened the season as inaccurate shooters and poor perimeter defenders.

UL hopes to change that tonight at Blackham Coliseum where the Cajuns host the University of North Carolina-Charlotte in the season's home opener beginning at 7:05 today.

The Cajuns are shooting 39.2 percent from the field and making only 54 percent of their free throws.

ULL is averaging 17.3 turnovers per game as opponents have stolen the ball an average of 10.3 times per game.

In the three season-opening games--all on the road--ULL has averaged 61.3 points.

Lee said he was especially frustrated after the Cajuns lost at Georgia State (76-61) on Tuesday night.

"Our perimeter offensive execution was awful. We can't throw it in the ocean," said Lee.

Lee felt his team has persisted not only to miss shots.

"It's been a combination of things why we're 0-3 right now. Out on the perimeter we can't guard anybody," he said.

"When you can't get help from the guards in front, it puts so much pressure on the inside guys that they can't contain.

Tickets can be purchaced at the Cajundome or at the Blackham box office around game time. The Blackham office is located on the Johnston St. side of the arena. As far as parking, I would assume that there are areas blocked off for season ticket holders but you can find a spot either around Blackham or in an adjacent field set up for parking. There should be people that will direct you where to go.

    UL 1984, 1999 . . . . Re: Sunday's headlines

    Aren't they 0-3 right now, wouldn't that make them 0-4 or 1-3?

1-3 but of course ask Dan MacDonald and he thinks the sky is falling. It's the home opener time for the sky falling.

For the exhibition game, I parked in the field along Coliseum Drive. It's not as far as some people had said it was. Shorter than the walk from the CajunDome parking lot to the Dome. People were also parking around Blackham. Not sure how that worked out, but there people literally parking at the door.

Sportsnetwork.com has picked against the Cajuns the previous 3 times and this is no exception.

"Neither team has shot well from the floor this season so whichever one can win the battle on the boards will surely come out on top tonight. Charlotte has the edge in that area and with a big rebounding effort from Withers it should be able to slip past a struggling UL-Lafayette team.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Charlotte 78, UL-Lafayette 74"

If we play like we have been playing it won't be pretty.
