I agree with your train analogy. If infact he does leave, IMO, his replacement hire will be Scott Farmers most important decision of his career here. If his hire doesn't pick up where Hudspeth left off, the entire bandwagon we have now will be lost. The whole community will be saying there goes UL, back to their old selves......
I couldn't agree more. I talked about this earlier today in a different thread, comparing this to Boise State. They were/are on their 3rd coach since their success has begun, and each hire has been more important that the previous one. Now they are in a position where their current guy may not ever leave. They lost a coach to Arizona State, and parlayed what Dirk Koetter built into another great hire. They lost the next guy (Dan Hawkins) to Colorado, then made one more great hire, and now they've reached heights that not even they could have ever dreamed of. Mark Hudspeth will not be the coach here if those dreams ever become a reality at UL. He may end up being the guy that set it in motion, but we will probably need at least 2 more great hires before we would ever get there.
I agree as well (and I haven't looked at the tenures at Boise or Colorado) but I don't thinnk it can happen with a series of one-n-done great coaches.
Yeah, you would hope that the next guy would be here for a bit longer. To your point about tenures, Koetter (I believe) was already there when Boise moved up to D1 and I think Hawkins stayed 5 seasons. So your point is definitely valid in that regard. What I'm saying is, Hud has made this attractive job to whoever is next, whether that is now or 5 years from now, and if/when he does leave, we will have more to offer in what will be the most important hire we will make.
While I love everything that coach HUD has done for the team, if he leaves, it just mean that it's up to us as a community to pick up where he left off. He's done a great job of getting the community behind the team, but if he leaves, that only means that WE have to keep holding on to that rope. Losing him would be upsetting, but as long as we, as a community, keep fighting on, we can take the next step to really become something great.
I said I was against deleting threads, but man I wish I could retract that statement. You people are hanging him without a trial. Where's your evidence that he is even thinking of leaving. You people are about as emotional as women.
Next rumor you hear will be that a woman will accuse Hud of a 13 year affair. Man you people need to quitcher_____in and focus on the damn bowl game. Go take your frustration out at the gym. Exchange phone numbers on here and all the negative nacy's can have a conference call. Who EVER said "In Hud I trust" needs to reevaluate themselves. Obviously you have trust issues.
Don't get me wrong I TOO will jump on this band wagon of being ____ed off, but ONLY if it happens. The AD and everyone else will take care of us. Don't think for a second we will be bad off!
If I were HUD would ban the players from tv, newspapers, internet and so-called friends that even bring this up. I will blame EACH and EVERY one of you personally if we lose that game because the players aren't focused and keep hearing about your RUMORS and SPECULATIONS.
Till we get real evidence, people, just chill the f out and I will see you all in New Orleans!
Some facts that justifies the current attitude of UL fans: Hud confirmed that he interviewed with Ol Miss. He withdrew not because he wasn't interested but because he felt the Ol Miss search committee had problems with his Miss State ties. And he has not come out and categorically state he is staying here and refusing any other interview requests.
