Not if they get the death penalty, which they should. They won't, but they should. Serious probation possible, though. The uncertainty alone makes it an unattractive job. They'll lynch the next coach at the first sign of "failure." You saw how much class those folks have when it comes to football. Or human decency, for that matter. No thanks.

Or, you wonder how we didn't do it. Then you realize it is more like, how we haven't done it. Then you realize now we are doing it!

We have made very good strides over the last two years ... Coach Hud helped us take a very, very large stride this year. But make no mistake about it, this is a different school, with different leadership, and a larger fanbase that is getting larger every day. We can and we will, be on the same level as So. Miss, E. Carolina, Houston, all the guys we USED to be on the same level with 30 years ago; and we will be on that same level within a few years - IF the fans want it bad enough.

That means RCAF and season tickets and attendance.

    Go CAJUNS!

Not to slam you for your cheerleading effort... but fans are dogs and the administration is the dog trainer. We don't do anything worth a damn without proper training. If he leaves us idle, we'll chew up his shoes and take dumps where he wishes we wouldn't. He damn well knows what treats we like and only he can get us to learn new tricks. If UL wants a bunch more well-behaved dogs in the UL football kennel, it is entirely up to them. The "all call" to dogs never works. It has to come from the AD and his people. We have to know there's a treat at the end of our behavior in order for him to get us to obey.

Who let the Cajun dogs out? The UL administration did. It wasn't the coach or the team or anyone else. They cranked up the action in the kennel... and the dogs are dancing. They know precisely what I mean. It is always up to the dog trainer. Never, ever blame the dogs. Grrrrrr

PS I agreed with everything up to the "IF the fans want it bad enough". It is "IF the administration makes the right decisions". The fans will react accordingly.

man remember when we didn't have to worry about our coach leaving us? That sucked.

On the bright side if we weather the storm this year and the Miss schools lock down coaches without the last name Hudspeth, we should have him for a while.

The new administration at UL has hired one coach, with that coach they have sent us to a bowl game and packed the stadium. This is not the same program we had ten years ago.

That is absolutely the only way to look at what is going on right now. Thanks.

I think you have the tail wagging the dog in this case. The AD made a great coaching choice, no doubt. The new coach made great staff choices, again no doubt. This aint dogs just jumping up & down at every cheer the UL atheletic department gives though. I would wager there were a lot of struggles within the administration as to whether to pay a coach the kind of money the HUD is making right now. There was no evidence that this thing would work out, especially so quickly. These guys are now counting more money that they have ever seen in their lives. They are also realizing they will have to spread that money around to grow more of it for the future. When you have guys like Cajunhawk stepping out & challenging this group to dig deep, that isn't some flathead being lead around with a hook in his jaw. That is a fan with a vision for the future. It is inspirational & it is exactly the kind of thing this school needs to KNOW that their work & risk is paying off. This is exactly the kind of THINKING of the fan base, by the fan base that continues to challenge the rest of the fan base & takes the program to the next level.

Folks the last time I went out today, not a shread of sky on my car, head, or lawn. So the sky is not falling. There is a reason Hud chose to come to UL. There will be a reason when he leaves. Still he chose to come because he believed he would be successful, and quickly. No doubt he saw the talent Ricky had and felt he could improve on it, and coach them up.

Point is we got a very good coach in Ricky Bustle and there were in fact sky fragments on my lawn then. He patched the sky and Hud has made improvements to that patch. It will not fall and we will have a very qualified coach in 2012. I know it a coach who is happy to keep improving this program.

It is our responsibility to back UL, not a coach.

Before he took the UL job, Hud was asked "Why hasn't UL been able to win?" Hud replied "I have no idea, they have everything going for them."

Yea and T-Bine it just hurts so much to think of all this potential and everybody just gets lulled to sleep in the idea of mediocrity-----We lose Alumni fans, local fans, and state wide fans----Hopefully this is not a one time al la Ice Gator deal----We need to make it go NOW---To think that TECH with nothing really (no population, no great student enrollment, no major athletic accomplishments, and hardly any money almost or could make it ahead of us---Damn that is sad!!!
