Go to Shrevesport then I-49 to Lafayette, once you get to Shreveport, it is nice.

That's what I'm talking about. I always have a better time on Jeff then on Bourbon. Bourbon Street at night usually brings out the trailer park tourist from the midwest who for some reason feel everyone wants to see their chest. That may sound good to some at first until you find out they are not the nicest ones to see.

As for A State fan. I would take the interstate from S'port. Those little highways always give me a headache especially when traveling a long distance. You could cut through Ruston and come down but I always hated the stop and go.

The Blue Moon Saloon/Guest House is the best place for you to stay. It's 5 minutes from the stadium and across the street from the bars and clubs. The place is a hostel (higher level) and a great outdoor patio bar with live regional music. They are on the web and the rooms are usually always full. Call them tonight if you can.

I am not being negative of New Orleans but a uninvited $20 shoe shine and some dude saying he could cap me was enough to never want to personally go to New Orleans again.
C'mon. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen! If somebody tries to shine your shoes w/o permission, kick 'em.
Heck, my wife threatens to "cap" me on a daily basis.....lol (just kidding, honey!)
Bourbon St. actually pulls tons of locals. They won't admit it, but they go and it is a good sss time.
Maybe its just that I am from there and can handle the silly local shennanigans some folks like to try and pull. Bottom line: Bourbon is Boubron and Jefferson St. is Jefferson St. Both really cool places but not too similar.

The Ark crowd should have a great time in Lafayette and there is plenty of action down on Jefferson!

I belong to a hunting club in Haynesville,La, just south of Magnolia, AR. I find the trip through Shreveport is somewhat longer than taking 167 S. to Alexandria, then hitting I-49 to Lafayette. The Shreveport ride is solid 4 lane while the 167 route is mostly 2 lane. If you elect to save about 75 miles and go 167; watch for speed traps in Dodson and Dry Prong. Amazingly enough the population of both towns doesn't amount to 400 but they are pretty steady checking for speeders. If the speed limit says 35; hold it there until you're through.

Also, Lafayette is still so much more alive than Jonesboro, that I'm quite sure you and you buddies will have a great time. My gang should be at the game and we'll be pulling for the Indians. Best of Luck and please whip some CUSA butt.

I'm glad to know that we'll have some Sun Belt fans there... Thanks for the word on the speed traps... I can't wait for the game...

Is it quicker to take straight highway through El Dorado or interstate and go through Shreveport???

We do this trip often and we think 167 all the way is the quickest route by about 45 minutes.

167 is not interstate the whole way, so if you aren't interested in 2 lane highways you should go the other way.

I am wondering where the party spots are? Does Lafayette have a centralize area where most of the clubs/resturants are?

Downtown on Jefferson St. is where most of the dance clubs are at.
