I was gonna say the same thing about UCLA. Has a team ever fired their coach while prepping for a conference championship game? That's bizarre. Not saying the axe isn't warranted, but it's bizarre nonetheless.

Right now, I'd say Ole Miss, Tulane and Memphis are the schools to watch for Hud. It will be interesting to see if Mullen leaves Mississippi State for another job, too. If that happens, the Bulldogs will be in the mix for him.

Watch for Kansas, too. Many thought Fedora should have gotten the job instead of Gill a few years ago and could be the man this time around for the Jayhawks. If Fedora leaves Southern Miss, that's another possible destination for Hud, who is a Mississippi native with strong regional recruiting ties.

Some other jobs will also open as coaches start playing musical chairs and leaving their current schools.

If so, I would argue his recruiting skills.
