I think it is raise time.... Hud has more than paid for an increase by the enthusiasm he has brought to the community, increased awareness, bowl game and of course the increased attendance..... Having said that we should get used to Hud's name being on a lot of "want" lists.... And one day he will take a SEC job... My crystal ball is that he stays for 3 years and takes the Tennessee job as they continue to suck into the near future and will be in the market around that time frame...

If Dooley doesn't win next year, he will be gone.

HUD is likely to get an 75-90% raise depending if we get into a bidding war. I think we can afford $750K to keep him if we need to.

If we can afford it.. why not reward him now? Show him we are dedicated.

I think Mr. Farmer will do all he can to keep Hud. T minus 19 days till the New Orleans BOWL!!!

According to my sources, he will be getting a substantial raise after this year to include raises for his staff as well. But if we get into a bidding war with another school, I think that is our limit at this point in time. Again, that is just my opinion. Now if we do keep him and go to three straight bowl games then I could see us realistically paying close to $1M for our HC.

    HUD wins.

We bump the salary every year until he gets hired away.

Next Coach will have VERY short leash. If he wins, you bump his salary every year as well until he gets hired away.

Eventually, you're paying your head coach close to or above seven figures as your football program grows accordingly.

    That is the Boise model.

...which will become known as the Louisiana model.

I'd like to have sources. What does one have to do to get sources?

Watch for Kansas, too. Many thought Fedora should have gotten the job instead of Gill a few years ago and could be the man this time around for the Jayhawks. If Fedora leaves Southern Miss, that's another possible destination for Hud, who is a Mississippi native with strong regional recruiting ties.

Some other jobs will also open as coaches start playing musical chairs and leaving their current schools.
As much as I hate to say this but JP is right. IMO Coach Hud is a one and done here I maybe worng but its a matter of time. Freeze,Hud & Fedora are some of the get them while you can coaches. All 3 might end up being the HC at the Mississippi schools. If Mullen Leaves then you see all 3 schools trying to make a pitch to the top 3 coaches. It might look like this Mississippi St. next HC will be Larry Fedora, Ole Miss Hud or Freeze, S. Miss Hud or Freeze. So who ever takes over our program will have a good team in hands. All or half of the staff might leave with Hud and the coaches he tried to get here will most likely end up at one of the Mississippi schools. So after that who will be the next HC @ UL??? I dont know we will find out
