Sorry, misclick. The city & Acadiana need to really get behind this bowl & promote it. There will be clips before & during the game of the local atmosphere, geography, etc. Also, there is nothing more embarassing than to see a game on TV where the stands are obviously half full. It reflects on the host city & their enthusiasm to support whatever event is being held. Lafayette & the region is getting a free opportunity to promote itself on the national level.

You can spin it any way you want & I have a vested interest, but in the most realistic sense, ASU won head to head. They deserve to represent.

You are absolutely right! The entire Acadiana area needs to support this game; not just for the SBC and UL; but for themselves as well. This is a perfect opportunity to sell this region...advertising for tourism, an opportunity to sell the area to businesses, etc. Someone is definitely asleep at the wheel if they don't see what a great shot this could be for the entire region.

I don't get too worked over them one way or the other. If the tigers win great, if they lose, oh well. Sometimes I cheer for them, sometimes against them, but mostly I just don't care! You are absolutely right; my wife is from Wisconsin and I have been telling her for years what a GREAT place Lafayette is to visit. I hope to get her there for a stAte football game in the near future. I love the culture, the music, and, of course, the food.

When the Sunbelt office decided to exclude Monroe’s tie-breaker info because they are not bowl eligible, they screwed up.

The Sun Belt made the decision in 2002 that ineligible teams tied with eligible teams would be dropped to the lowest seed among tied teams and then tie-breaking would resume with any remaining tied teams.

Under that scheme. ULM automatically became #3, leaving ASU and Louisiana to determine the #1 and #2 and two team tiebreakers go to head-to-head.

But even without that ASU still would have earned the bowl berth. With FIU beating MTSU we have a three way tie at 1st, three-way tie at 4th and two-way tie at 7th.

To break the three-way tie at first requires breaking the tie at fourth and that cannot be broken without first breaking the tie at 7th. Applying the tiebreakers.

All beat FAU. Troy beat UNT. FIU and MTSU lost to UNT.

I cannot support a system that goes outside the conference FIRST before settling conference standings.

You CANNOT drop ULM inside conference because of what might happen to them outside of conference. Determine conference standigns and IF ULM is first then calmly but nicley tell them they can't represent.

Having said that, thanks for your breakdown that I will quote in another post. BECAUSE ASU IS LEGIT . . .but not because the Sunblet knew what they were doing.

If you study the IN CONFERENCE tiebreakers, Arkansas State legitimately won the 2005 Sunbelt Conference race. ASU is 1a Louisiana is 1b and Monroe is 1c.

As the Sunbelts 1a representative and as a bowl eligible team, I fully support their representation in the New Orleans bowl.
