I am taking creative license and changing the title of this thread to
Boycott the N.O. "Toy let" Bowl...
Please don't make any major "toy" decisions till after the bowl game . . .
Thank you for your support.

When the Sunbelt office decided to exclude Monroe’s tie-breaker info because they are not bowl eligible, they screwed up.
Dr. Authement is busy swapping land. The Athletic Director Job is vacant . . . no one seems to have thought this through so I guess it's up to me. It's a dirty job . . . :o
The Sunbelt is removing an in conference foe from the Sunbelt title equation because of a future out of conference rule . . . As interpreted, Monroe can't go play out of conference post season so they can't be used to determine IN conference results.
It is my contention, that it is ok to deny them a bowl bid IF they place first, but if they don’t place first their lack of external qualifications are irrelevant. IF however they are totally eligible for the “internal” Sunbelt Title, don’t exclude their tiebreaker info UNLESS you are prepared to say they do not have a share (in any way) of the conference title.
It is flawed logic to say ‘Monroe your tiebreaker info in games won can be used to earn your way into a three way tie, but your tiebreaker info cannot be used to break the three way tie.’
Here’s the deal.
Hypothetically let’s say (Using the Sunbelt's flawed tiebreaker logic) that UL and ASU didn't play this year. But the two teams were still tied after Monroe’s tiebreaker info was disallowed. Universal tiebreaker rules state you then look at the records compared against what they did vs. the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (4, 5 and 6) . . .
Hold your horses
. . . Obviously that universally accepted tiebreaker info can't be used. I mean according to Sunbelt logic the 4th, 5th and 6th place teams are not bowl eligible. Somebody got some bad info.
OK that was my third swing at this -my turn at bat is over- however I am available for consultancy & criticism. . . it goes with the job

It reflects on the host city & their enthusiasm to support whatever event is being held. Lafayette & the region is getting a free opportunity to promote itself on the national level.
You can spin it any way you want & I have a vested interest, but in the most realistic sense, ASU won head to head. They deserve to represent.
See that wasn't difficult, and I know you feel better!!Originally Posted by RaginFan2
You are absolutely right! The entire Acadiana area needs to support this game; not just for the SBC and UL; but for themselves as well. This is a perfect opportunity to sell this region...advertising for tourism, an opportunity to sell the area to businesses, etc. Someone is definitely asleep at the wheel if they don't see what a great shot this could be for the entire region.Originally Posted by geauxboy

You are absolutely right; my wife is from Wisconsin and I have been telling her for years what a GREAT place Lafayette is to visit. I hope to get her there for a stAte football game in the near future. I love the culture, the music, and, of course, the food.Originally Posted by shof
