Default Note to SBC: You want more TV, schedule more weeknight games...

Look to the MAC as an example of how to get national exposure on tv... Week after week they have games on weeknights and the vast majority of the time make at least espn2. Is Western Michigan vs. Northern Illinois so much more appealing than a UL vs. ULM game? The SBC (usually) has fairly high scoring games with weak defenses and potent offenses.. people like to watch points go on to the board, and I think the SBC could compete with the MAC for these weeknight spots...

I have said this before and I keep gettign told that not enogh people show up to the stadium for a week night game. I love the idea of week night games because recruits get to see you on national tv and there is no better exposure than that. So what if the crowd size is small...i watch these games and see barely anybody at games at Northern Illinois and Taledo. The size of the crowd doesn't matter because of the exposure you get on espn 2 or even espn. The MAC is not that much better a league than the Sunbelt but the perception is much different because they are on tv and getting highlights on sportscenter and the other highlight shows.

You are SOOOOO correct. I LOVE Toledo. I've spent alot of time there. It's a great city. How much do the people of UT care about the Rockets? NONE. They never fill that stadium but still manage to attract recruits to keep them competative. Why? TV. Whatever it takes to get on TV, that's what we need to do. TV=Recruits=Wins=Attendance.

My boss graduated from Toledo. He moved to BR about a year and a half ago. I saw part of the game against Northern Illinois, and it looked like a pretty small crowd. I asked him about the attendance. He said they often get close to 30,000. But sometimes they have smaller crowds kind of for the same reasons we do. BTW he is a big Ohio State fan (probably as much as or moreso than Toledo). He also has a similar view as we do of State fans.
