We had 34 players over 30 minutes. Tennessee only had one (and we played one more player than they did). Next was assists. Only three of our players failed to ring up an assist. That is a good sign. The players are looking for each other. A BIG plus was our rebounding. We out-rebounded them by a 50-32 margin. That's pretty solid. Another stat that caught my attention was shots made from the field. We hit one more FG than they did (one more 3-pointer). We also outscored them 51-40 in the second half. Except for minutes played those are all good signs. On the other hand, we had NO blocked shots! And they had 8 blocks. (I had to look at that a few times!) The obvious negative was the disasterous first half. Way too many turnovers and poor shooting. The fact that they didn't lay down and, in fact, fought back to not only get back into the game, but to take a lead (after trailing by as much as 23 (I think) in the second half), really showed me something about the character of this team. (They must be hanging out with the FB team!). That was a pretty gutsy performance. I hope they will be able to come back like that and actually win some of these type of games this season. Of course, we'd all hope they wouldn't put themselves in that position in the first place! But it is a long season, and they are sure to need a big comeback again (what team doesn't?). Keep up the effort and good things will happen for this team!

Great come back. The team showed real heart. I also think that coach Lee made some excellent adjustments at the half.

However, we need to start winning games like this and the SIU game if we expect to reach the "next level" otherwise we will always be known as the "almost" cajuns or the "that was a close one, wait until next year" cajuns.

SunBelt titles are nice, but getting bounced in the first round of the NCAA's are not my idea of getting to the next level.

In any event, I think this team has a lot of potential to do big things this year.

Southall, Mitchell and Cameron are the undisputed leaders of this team. When one goes down with injury or foul trouble, others try their best to step up their play... Southall played sparingly in first half as well. Do you think Cajuns would have had a better chance against SIU if they did not have his 15 points (on very few shots) 10 rebounds and 5 blocks?

Why can't you just accept that Michael Southall is so far taking full advantage of a last chance given to him, albeit one with challenging conditions attached. He was immature as an 17,18, 19, 20 year old spoiled rotten elite athlete boy... Today, he appears to have grown into a man who is taking responsibility for himself and his family and his Cajuns team.

At first glance it is easy for someone from the outside looking in to say that Lee and UL are only interested in winning and should not have brought Southall back... But you know that is not true...

As a Cajun fan, I am proud of what Southall has accomplished this year off the court as much as what he will hopefully will accomplish on the court...

I have had my share of second and third chances, no doubt.... Have you?

Would you be happier if 10 years from now you ran into Southall, the NBA player or successful business man, or would you be happier if you ran into Southall and he was in a bad situation? I hope not the latter...

Southall needs support from UL, his team and coaches, and Cajun fans while he continues making his transition from troubled teen to a successful man. Let's support him! Who cares whether he smoked a joint at Denny's after some high school dance, got on probation and violated it in some minor way? That is old news as long as he is no longer that troubled teenager boy, but instead a young man who is striving for success and the best way to provide for his family?

    Geaux Cajuns! Geaux Mike!!

I think you have to judge a player how he does over the whole season not just one game. Getting early into foul trouble did not help.

UL Basketball team looks good ,even if 0-2

ok defense needs to improve, like 6-11 chris cameron is nice touch from 10 and out ,but he can't play anybody on the defensive end. Is man beats him and off the dribble. last night if he gave tenn's player wingate open shots, lucky he went 4-13. and dwayne mitchell gave is all out on the court, 19 points, 20 rebounds, 6 rebounds,4 steals 12 turnovers out of 20 for the team. he does to much also he plays the other teams top offense player. maurice barksdale did a good job at the point position, even tennessee coach talked about that on his radio show, he also said mitchell played a real good game. if you put ed turner at the 2 position and dwayne at the 3 positon, jt fields or valentino hart at the 4 position and micheal southall at the 5 position, maurice barksdale at the 1 position. and bring chris cameron in to replace southall or the 4 position sometime. to make the team defense quickier. they made a run with a smaller line up. this line up also saves foul trouble with the big players. more rebounds mitchell and a better defend at the 4 positon... the team did a great run in the second half, outscoring Tennessee 51 to 40 in the second half with the smaller line up. better defense.
