HipBone Bowl is a term I'm going to use to describe degree of separation bragging rights. It happens every year when teams don't play each other and they use their win over a common opponent to show they are the better team. It's a fanatics dream, when you can connect the dots . . .
It goes like this; Hipbone connected to the backbone, backbone connected to the neck bone, neck bone connected to the head bone. So when 2 teams don't play head to head they go the hip bone route for bragging rights.
You can have multiple hipbone winners in a single season taking different routes but usually the shortest route wins.
Earlier Boomer pointed out that LSU lost to Tennessee, while Tennessee lost to Vanderbilt, and Vanderbilt then lost to Middle Tennessee who was defeated by Louisiana.
So as we speak UL is in the drivers’ seat for the State of Louisiana's HipBone title. . Except they are putting it on the line this Saturday vs. Monroe.
Going into the game Monroe has sole possession of the Sunbelt title and UL has sole possession of the LA hip bone title.
Both will be on the line Saturday.
