Except that he was in Arizona
Except that he was in Arizona
Historical note: Panthers, Saints, Cajuns . . . Kyle jump onboard before any of the teams had success.
Well as kind of a side note---When it comes to choosing the Louisiana Coach of the year I say Les Miles and in the number 2 spot is Sonny Dykes of Tech---Why --Miles winning a national Championship and Dykes to winning the WAC and almost beating 3 out of three Miss teams on the road and killing Ole Miss---add to this almost beating a Houston top 5 team----OKKKKAY and I can see the crap that will come back at this-----BUT these guys are the facts!!!!! We have a coach which did an incredible job and came out 3rd in a lower rated league than the WAC---The facts!!! Man I hope we can keep our guy!!!!!
UAB have absoutely no tradition. They are stuck between Alabama and Auburn, they play there games at a dump of a stadium
in Legion Field, and they have no fan support. The folks at UAB want 75 Million dollars to build an on campus football stadium, but
about 2 weeks ago someone from the University of Alabama system board of trustees told the folks at UAB that they need to
worry about there medical programs instead of a new football stadium. In my opinion, the UAB job might be the toughest job in all of college football. If Larry Fedora leaves Southern Mississippi, that's when I will really start to worry if Mark Hudspeth is staying or
going.
The Cajuns will be making their first bowl trip since 1970 on Dec. 17 in the New Orleans Bowl. It will be their third bowl appearance (1943, 1970). The program has won seven conference titles (1952, 1965, 1968, 1970, 1993, 1994, 2005).
Memphis has some tradition with seven bowl appearances and six conference championships.
UAB has only played football since 1991 - the Blazers moved up to I-A in 1996 - and has played in one bowl game (and beat LSU in 2000).
Memphis and UAB face major obstacles to have sustained success, the biggest being that there's little interest and support from the local community. Both also need big facility upgrades.
So I think we can agree there are 4 open jobs (One isn't yet) that Hud may or may not be interested in. In what order would you rank them if you were coach Hud:
Louisiana
Memphis
Tulane
Ole Miss
Southern Miss
I really think Ole Miss is a non-issue. I think things are gonna get worse before they get better. A lot worse. And for a while.
Memphis? I think Southern Miss is a much better option. Do you want to rebuild Memphis from the ground up.
Tulane? How much institutional committment? It should be one of the sexiest jobs in the country, but, meh?
I think we're gonna be okay for a few years.
But I'm an eternal optimist. I'm one of them true-believers who think it's gonna be okay, just because. Just hope that includes Hud.
That'd be perfect in my opinion. I don't think he gets the nod at ole miss. Interview.. yeah.. but i doubt they take him. I doubt federoa goes to memphis. Why leave USM for that job. He has his hands on this program and can build it. Look at the players he has already. I bet there are a few big guys coming in as well.
Any idea what kind of raise he gets for the bowl game?
