Calm down guys, he has not even interviewed at tulane yet. I know this for a fact. If things continue to go bad for tulane in the search for a coach, I fully expect for him to get an interview but I know for a FACT that he has not interviewed as of yet for that job.

According to hud, if i am reading the article correctly, he has not spoken to anyone. but i am not sure that his follow up comment gives me warm fuzzies about him staying.

The deal is that he came here to polish his resume for an SEC job. I am fine with that.. if he can score the big job with Old Miss in one year, I say more power to him. We will have fun shopping for the next up and comer. Now if Tulane throws a bunch of money his way and he uses it to try and get UL to beat the offer, then I say let him go. Does he really think it would be a smart move to take a job where actually (butts in the seats) attendence is close to 1000 per game? Does he really want to take a job at a school where only a few years back they considered ending the football program all together or dropping down to non-scholarship club ball? This was with full support of the faculty and many of their snooty alumni. If he is willing to do this for the money, I say shake his hand and wish him (no) luck. This is why I say no bidding war.

I think we can and probably will offer him about 650K to return. This is a business, and right now that is about all the program will support. We should be aware that this raise will have to come from private sources, the state would never approve using public funds to pay a coach that kind of money. A million a year would be very difficult to sustain, maybe impossible. That said, if money is his main thing and USM offers a million, he is a goner. Personally, I don't think the USM job will be open.

I am more concerned about the UL football program than about Hud. If he wants to go, I am confident that Scott Farmer will find another winner. Example, I wonder how much it would cost to get the Sam Houston State Coach??? In case you have not kept up, the Bearcats are currently 11-0. There are guys out there who would love a shot at a FBS job. just saying

just curious. How do you know for a FACT that he hasn't interviewed yet?

He hasn't and I'd be willing to bet that regardless of any serious offer from Tulane, he will not coach at Tulane. There could be several more attractive CUSA positions availabe in a matter for a few weeks.

Garrick McGee? I don't see Ole Miss hiring a black coach though.

Rah rah and great recruiting does not get it done in the SEC. Ask Ed Orgeron. You have to game plan. IMHO,Hud has not proven he can do the later consistently. If he was offered the ole miss job he would be a fool to turn it down...even though he is a risk. If he takes the Tulane job then that is a huge indictment on our program.

Has anybody heard any reports about Hugh Freeze being in Baton Rouge yesterday? I think that is who the Manning committee was interviewing. The story broke earlier tonight on Bleacher Report, but has since been pulled. Both he & the university are in extreme denial which obviously means its true. There you go UL fans. Hugh Freeze goes to Ole Miss, Fedora stays put at USM, & Coach Hud is here another year to toil & bring us the best college football UL has seen in many a year.
