Just to keep coach speak in perspective.....

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State receivers coach Mark Hudspeth will not interview for he recent job opening at Louisiana-Lafayette.

    Hudspeth

“I am not a candidate and I’m full-speed ahead here,” Hudspeth told The Clarion-Ledger on Monday.

Rickey Bustle coached his final game at ULL on Saturday, and the school announced today that he would not return for the final year of his contract. Joshua Parrott of The Daily Advertiser in Lafayette, La., reported on his blog that, as of Sunday night, Hudspeth was one of three candidates expected to interview for the job, according to multiple sources.

“I’m where I want to be,” Hudspeth said Monday. “Not to say one day down the road a position somewhere wouldn’t interest me, but I’m happy where I’m at. Recruiting is going great.”

Hudspeth was the coach at North Alabama for seven years before joining Dan Mullen‘s staff last year.

Last time I checked SEC > Sun Belt... Last time I checked Hud didn't come here saying hey I'll stay a year and then shoot out.

Chill out people... Take a step back.. enjoy the upcoming bowl game. If he is here next year.. enjoy our success... if he isn't... get on board with the new guy.

I love the fact you guys pick on bandwagon fan. Give the guy a break. He isn't trying to hid the fact that he is new to the program.. he is trying to support it fully though. Guy is a season ticket holder and an RCAF contributor.
    Thank you

No worries you are going into menopause. I also see your menstrual cycles are much more frequent too.

After following this thread, I finally have to throw in my two cents.

For many years, many of us have been longing to have a football coach here at UL that was successful enough to be sought after by other schools. We always said that whenever that happened it would mean our team had become successful. Well, it looks like we have gotten what we have been asking for. I didn't think it would come after only one season, but I am thrilled that success has come so quick. I have no idea if Hud will be back next season or not, but if he does return, I hope we are experiencing this same delima again. If he goes, I hope we continue to face the same prediciment with our new coach(s) again and again, year after year. That would mean sustained success.

I believe the greatest thing that Coach Hud has done for UL in the short time he has been here is to prove that UL can be successful IF EVERYONE COMES OUT AND SUPPORTS THE PROGRAM!!!!!! We need to face the fact that Coaches will come and go, but we (the fans) will always be here. Utlimatley the success of UL Football will be based more on the support of we the fans (both financial and in the stands) than it will be on who the Coach is. If we all continue to support this program, UL should always be able to attract good, qualified coaches to lead the team.

+1 I cant recall ANY one wanting one of ours in the 40+ years I have been a fan. This is a good thing & whenever he goes will make it easier to get a decent replacement

Interesting comparison take on the Michigan/Miles Mississippi/Hud situation.

Personally I don't think any SEC school takes a first year coach with his season long losses (though few) mostly stacked on the back end.

Besides, Hud has granted me an off season interview and I'm not traveling to Mississippi to conduct it. He has to stay

Out of everything in this thread, the thing that blew my mind is that there are two duggies on this board. Holy ____.

Ark State HC Hugh Freeze & ULL HC Mark Hudspeth emerging as early top candidates after Larry Porter fired at Memphis.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Freeze and Hud will be top candidates for more than 1/2 the jobs that are open.

We've already outrecruited Memphis. I don't see Hud leaving for Memphis.
