And it's going to get worse. This team is not reaching 11 wins this season.

11, they lucky to get to 5 wins... Its not saying much for Nichols to beat us. If you wanna win hire the guy thats just got the three best guards in the state to sign with McNeese... U do that and this program is a winner next year. U do that and one of the best shooting guards in the country will return home to play for the Cajuns... You do that and UL will come full circle on every sport having a great Quality Coach...

----------The word got out about his having a bad interview when he went tet au tet with Rogers to get the UL job----I was shocked at the hiring---but something else has to have been causing both his hiring and retention----NOBODY in the history of UL sports has maybe performed this poorly!!!!

When David Walker hired ER he said of Errol Rogers "The BEST thing about him is he is a UL Alum."

    How did David know?

So is the guy from McNeese. Not only is he a good coach, you have some big people in the community wanting him to be the coach at UL

About the hiring: for some reason, there simply were not many candidates that fit the profile for what our school normally looks for-previous head coaching experience, college level experience, strong recruiting ties, among other attributes. So the job came down to three candidates: James Hatchell, Errol Rogers and Gary Brodhead. Hatchell had previous D1 head coaching experience, had one year under the Hall system and was Kelley's recommendation to David Walker. David chose not to go with Kelley's recommendation. Errol had two things working in his favor: he had college experience and he had taken recruits from Kelley to go to Mississippi State. Gary had no college experience. There's the reason for the hire.

About the retention: David was done, Scott was carrying the load and the concentration was and had to be on the football hire and program. Scott did not have a "Scott" to help him like David did when they were working on the football hire. Many people will not accept that as an excuse for "not doing your job," (re:the duties of an athletic director to run an athletic program) but, quite simply, that's too bad. Not enough people care about the women's basketball program. I will say that an informal "feeler" was put out to gauge the interest of a specific coach, but she was not interested at the time.

History: check your history. The Dwayne Searle years were ugly. The Errol Rogers years are approaching that level of inadequacy.

Future: there will be a resurgence in this program. It will, unfortunately, take a great deal of time for whoever comes in, but this new staff will have more resources than any previous staff, even Kelley's. I will need to be shown that we can get a coach the caliber of J. Kelley Hall, but time will be the determining factor.

So long, Kelley. See you soon.

I agree T. That son-in-law is something. I like him and I know he can recruit. Spent a lot of time with him when we were in school. Most of all he has a passion for the university. He can walk in any gym in S. Louisiana and we know who he is.

Yo "B" make them seal the deal brother!
