problem, what problem could that cause ... oh, a lost generation.

I am just glad this is somebody else's problem for awhile ... I don't have another generation in me!

According to FootballRumorMill, Freeze and the USM coach are the top two candidates for the HC job for Ole Miss.

Hud has the energy and enthusiasm to rebuild a program under tough circumstances.
I'm not saying that Hud isn't a great choice for Ole Miss. But, surely you didn't think that UL was incapable of competing against the top programs in the SBC. We did that in one season. That is not going to happen at Ole Miss. We (UL) don't have to beat 3 recent national champions in order to win one half of our conference. Ole Miss and Miss State have been losing recruits to the rest of the SEC from the state of Mississippi (including area CUSA programs). Even "building a fence" in their respective areas... isn't going to get it done. I don't know what Ole Miss is going to have to do... but their future program has to do a lot more than "get excited". All UL basically has to do in order to reach our relatively low aspirations is... get excited. Very different circumstances.

But, that doesn't mean Hud won't want that job and that Ole Miss won't want him. Ole Miss is not going to recruit adequately in Hudspeth's current sphere of influence and overcome the SEC West. "Excitement" is not going to awaken anything at Ole Miss. They have boosters and money... but they can't compete with the current giants of college football... dominating a third of their schedule year in and year out. Hud wouldn't agree. Gotta love that guy.

If that's the case, it is very interesting. I knew Freeze would be up there, but wasn't sure he'd be in the final 2. Fedora seemed like a prime candidate for them, but that loss the other day hurt him. I thought that Sumlin would be one of the finalists, but I didn't take into consideration that Ole Miss loves their good ole boy network, and because Sumlin is somewhat viewed as an outsider, he wouldn't be a prime candidate for them.

Sumlin is black. Cross him off.

I agree, the pope will convert to a Baptist before Ole Miss hires a black coach. Also, his offense would not work in the SEC.

ANY offense will work in ANY league if you have the right coaches and athletes.

Oh yeah, and if "if" was a fifth we would all be dunk! If that statement were true, no one would be fired. At Ole Miss you can not get the superior athletes needed to compete in the SEC West. It may take years to overcome LSU, BAMA, Auburn, and even Miss State. The question is will they be patient with the new coach?

Haven't been yet. I remember when Baldwin was fired, Rodrigue was the leading candidate, and rumor was that he was ready to accept. As I understand the story, Bowen talked him out of it. Said the (then) USL program wasn't going anywhere because the admin wasn't behind it. Next year, Rodrigue was offered West Virginia. I believe the same is true for Hud. A couple of years out, with continued success, he'll get a much better offer.

I didn't say a "big" raise as that is an open ended statement. I did say that I'd be surprised if he doesn't get an extension AND raise which can come in the form of many things when you have private funding dollars. At the very least, you extend him making any type of payout for leaving much higher. While I understand that their fan support was very unflattering, they also have a higher operating budget than the cajuns and we have one of the highest paid coaches in the league so it is possible.
