Default If something needs fixing for next year????????

I have seen the some great Football from our Cajuns this year. I have seen a group of football players bond together to become a Team of Winners and excell beyond our wildest dreams but:
    1) if we don't get better kick-off results, our defense is always gonna be put on the ropes. Having good field position 75% of the time ain't good folks.Get a kicker to kick it in the end zone.

    2) Personal Foul Penalities, how many of these this year have extended the opponents drive only for them to get a touchdown or field goal.

    3) Get a FAST and manueveralbe Kick off and punt returner. I was not impressed with our Special team play, especially the blocking and return part. I see so many teams with good return packages, I ask, why can't we have that.

    4) In the ULM game, we did not adjust for the flare pass, however, ASU saw this and ran the same play, we adjusted and stopped them somewhat.

    5) Blaine Gauthier, when he is off, he is off, if he is hurt, don't play him, if Mason those one interception, don't dock him for an Injured Gauthier. Anyone who saw the game, saw he was hurt at the end. Sorry, I can't go along with at coach who plays an injured player, especially the QB.

    6) Turn Over, holy cow. Stop the bleeding.

On a good note, I have noticed our Punt coverage has improves a 1000 percent. No run backs like earlier in the season, now, let do that for Kick offs.

We played a good ASU team, I don't think they had better talent, but they executed well except when we pressured the QB, they also ran the QB better than us and their running game was much better. better blocking on the run than us.

I picked us to go 7-5 this year and my wish game true, the best we an do is 9-3 and the worst is 8-4. What a year. Congrats Cajuns, 2 more games, like in Bowl game. I can only hope and wish this for the Team and the Fans.

    GEAUX CAJUNS.

In fairness the most of the reason why ulm was successful was in the hands of their non catching receivers. Handfuls of Jerseys kept those running lanes open.

This is also a big point for me. Cant disagree. Hoping Alvarez will adjust

We have had quite a few, but I dont think its cost us games. I think coach likes that we play aggressive and with swagger, but yeah, a few less 15 yarders

Surgent has been a great returner. He was hurt this week and I think he's been dinged up the last few. I think this is an overreaction to having Peoples returning (bad game.) We have a few that can help next year too. Blocking could be better

    4) In the ULM game, we did not adjust for the flare pass, however, ASU saw this and ran the same play, we adjusted and stopped them somewhat.
This isnt something to fix next year. Its just what a team ran and did so with plenty of holdings. Depending on how our defensive personnel works out next year will be a key point due to all the seniors we have.

This is a massive exaggeration from a single game. Gautier had 2 picks coming in and rarely turned it over or put us into bad spots. He did this while banged up at times because if he was capable of getting onto the field, he was our best option. He had quite a few drives for TD's that he was limping down the field and into the endzone. I dont even know what the comment about Masson is pointing out. You dont put INT's on him? Give me a break. Senior with 2 years of starts gets to take some blame.

    6) Turn Over, holy cow. Stop the bleeding.
Again, this is a reaction from one game. We did an above average job in turnover ratio, considering the RB's that got the most carries were freshmen and what Gautier had done previous years

My biggest concerns for next year seem to be the obvious ones. How will so many new starters work out on defense. I believe this is an area that we may have overachieved at times this year due to having to play undersized LB's which affects the run game and tackling. The defense has been better than what I thought it would have been.

Another is seeing the OL continue to develop and improve as well as the play designs that take advantage of our line's strengths. I'm sure nearly everyone would agree that we'd like to run it better next year, and I'd be willing to wager a good bit that we will with the growth of our RB's and experience of the OL.

I think our line will improve, and am looking foward to seeing Effrem Reed as a change of pace guy....

Our receivers got absolutely no separation from the DB's at the ASU game. They were locking up with our receivers underneath and playing one or two safeties over the top. I have attended 8 games this season and have never seen another secondary lock our guys up like that. On top of that they were very aggressive with their pass rush not leaving the QB time to go through any of his progression reads. Tom Brady or Peyton Manning would have trouble in that setting. On top of that the wind was gusting big time, making it all but impossible to attack downfield with any degree of accuracy.

With that being said, Gautier was definitely injured but an injured Gautier in a game like that is better than a healthy Mason. Mason is not mobile and is purely a pocket passer. ASU did not allow for a pocket to be formed. Gautier made the few plays that were made in large part because of his legs even though he was getting crushed by the ASU defense every play.

Good thoughts. I would agree with the kickoffs, they have to improve. On defense we still need to be more physical upfront and generate a better pass rush. With the number of guys we are losing it will be tough. On offense the OL must improve. They had an up and down year, but the bottom line is they could not control the line of scrimmage against the better SBC teams. Having most of those guys back next year should be a plus.
    The future looks bright!
