A busy day for Broussard Police officers after several deer escape from a farm.
Four Broussard Police Officers started their Friday off with a unique call. Just after 8 am they responded to Datel Farms where 5 deer escaped their pin.
With safety as their main concern, officers blocked off several streets to try to keep the animals contained. Around 10:30 the police gave the owners the ok to kill two deer.
Friday afternoon, another deer was spotted in the same field and it took several bullets to take it down.
Officials say they could not use a tranquilizer because the bucks were bedded down in the cane field and could not get a clear shot. Even if a tranquilizer was used, it's mating season and the deer are aggressive.
