Our payout is based soley on the number of tickets we sell through the University? There is no other payout involved?

--------------Well the merchandise sales might kick in (surely the stuff we sell)----I think a lot of the gifts to the kids will be from the NO Bowl itself---I think that many of the rooms will be comped or given at a very low rate to get the backers to stay there-----Hopefully they have (GERALD HEBERT) meal plans for the team like he had for the top 28 in Lafayette-----Why did I even bring this up---Fire that LHSAA guy NOW!!!!! BTW hope to bump into him if the VCers make it to the Dome!!!!

I think he also told Brando that we'd have 40k at our last home game.

The art of promotion includes hyperbole I guess.

Say we spend $500 per person on bowl gifts for the players/managers/trainers/coaches etc.. That's about $60,000. If food and lodging costs us another $300/person, that's $36,000. Throw in about $6,000 for transportation and we have a profit of about $300,000 on our base payout, and about $500,000 total. So our profit would be about the same as a typical mid level money game.
I saw somewhere that the team was scheduled to go down on Tuesday the 13th. That kind of surprised me but then I realized is common for bowl games. Media interviews and pre-game activities etc. If that is the case then we have five nights to pay for rooms and food.

There is a small guarantee paid to UL by the NO Bowl, somewhere around $50k.

I may be way off base, but what I've read is that most teams actually lose money going to small bowls. This may not be the case with UL since it is essentially a home game, but I doubt the profit will be high.

These statements are in no way based on stats or solid facts, so... meh.

I could go for a post season Home Game every year.

Those are five well deserved days/nights of bowl activities!!! I hope they really show the team a good time, those guys deserve it!

If it's not a BCS bowl, there is in essence no payout at ANY bowl game. Each school is allotted tickets up to a face value equal to the supposed payout. If they don't sell them, they get nothing. Most bowls also have an agreement to split revenue on tickets sold by a school in excess of their basic allotment. The NOLA bowl splits that revenue 50-50. Tickets sold by the other school and/or by the Bowl itself net NOTHING for the school.

The classic loss example is the Hawaii Bowl. Teams typically lose $1,000,000 to $1,500,000 to go there because nobody brings very many fans.

Let's get our revenge next year when we play them at home in conference.

I can't imagine that happening! As a matter of fact, I can't ever remember (but I don't have a good memory) two teams from the same conference meeting in a Bowl game. But then again, it will probably happen this year in the BCS Championship game (LSU/Alabama). I guess if UL and WKU were meeting in the championship game, I'd be alright with a rematch!!! Other than that, I think that is a terrible idea.

That plus everything is five times as high in Hawaii including transportation to get there. What a way to bankrupt yourself though.
