A good meal can be had without breaking the bank. I've never had the chance but Johnny's Po-Boys is a local favorite. Also a Muffallete at Central Grocery is around 10.00.

Also the lunch menus like at K-Paul's are around the 10.00 mark!

  3. Default Seeing red from Cajuns' sales

There's a renewed buzz around the UL Ragin' Cajuns football team this fall as first-year head coach Mark Hudspeth has led the team to an 8-3 record, a perfect record at Cajun Field and a postseason bowl berth. But the excitement isn't just ...

I feel there will be at least 30000 cajun strong. If they bring in a team that will bring people and the locals could be 50000.

I'm going to say 25-30k. I'm in awe with the number of students and alumni who I have talked to around town who have already bought tickets and made hotel reservations for that weekend in New Orleans. For the bowl game, they usually do not open the terrace level of the Superdome, but they may have to do that this year with the number of people going. It's definitely going to be a fun weekend.

One more thing, just think what it will look like when the Pride of Acadiana plays the fight song during their pregame routine and you turn around to see 25-30k people in red standing and clapping to it. I might get emotional. HA!

Johnny's po-boy for lunch they close at 3. More food than you can eat and a great breakfast too. Very reasonable.

Parkway Bakery....mmmmmmm...Roast beef poboy dressed. Hey Boomer, do they still have the old butchers block where they cut the bread....used to have a 6 inch deep, v shaped crease where the knife hit the block from cutting bread loaves. Best bread in New Orleans.

Juan's flying burrito on Magazine is super cheap and tons of food. And $1 PBR if you're so inclined

Ok, so after thinking about this for a while now (the how many people will we bring question) and trying to figure out any way to measure potential UL fans at the bowl game, I think 30,000 is an easy figure for us to achieve. Nothing scientific here, but of all the regulars I know, we have doubled or tripled the number if people we will be going with as opposed to a regular season game. You seriously need to include the number if alumni from Houston to...what, somewhere in Florida? I'd put that at about 5 to 8 thousand that would attend. Between the two groups I'd say we would have 22,000-ish. And I have to imagine that between students, bandwagon types, and on/off fans we could EASILY come up with 10,000 people. So, given that completely unscientific SWAG (scientific wild ___ guess), I predict 32,000.-36,000 Cajun fans at the New Orleans Bowl on December 17, 2011.
