On the Tech board they are batting around this long shot possibility. I'm torn. I would rather play a school we normally wouldn't get a chance to play. However think of the crowd and atmosphere! How many do you think we will realistically put in the Super Dome? I'm thinking close to 40,000.
Fortunately we won't have to worry about that matchup, since there is no such thing as the NOLA Bowl
Considering what Tech pulled in the Independance bowl choosing 6-6 NIU over both UL and ASU, there is a zero percent chance they play in NO in my opinion.
The New Orleans bowl doesn't care what happened to us in the Independence bowl. They care about $$. If they can get Tech they will definitely try to get them.
I think that it would be a good in-state rivalry game, but I just don't see it happening. I'm often seeing the prediction that we might be playing against UCF. We'd have a pretty decent chance of winning that one.
They will be in a WAC bowl tie-in just like Jay said on his show the other day. Plain and simple, this is not going to happen.
Tech wants seperation, so they need to seperate themselves all the way to the Famous Potato Bowl (or something like that) in Idaho, or some other Bowl in a far away land!!! On their board they always claim that they have a great traveling fan base, so let them travel to Idaho or beyond. Playing a middle of the pack WAC team, a conference that ESPN rates lower than the Sun Belt, is not the kind of opponent I want to see the Cajuns play in a Bowl game. I'd prefer the Cajuns to play someone that can provide some competition.
Any thoughts on SMU?
There is zero point zero percent chance we play tech. IF they make a bowl they won't travel well as nothing is in this time zone for WAC. It will be a great embarassment that a few dozen travel to Idaho vs our legions making trip to NO.
