SMU?
I don't want any team with Red in their colors, I want the TV audience and the Bowl committee to see a majority of red and knowing it is all Cajun Fans.
for there to be a CUSA team in the bowl, I believe that we will need Houston to lose in Liberty Bowl. that would have it play out as USM to Liberty, Hawaii having #2 presumably would fight to take Houston (all bowls will fight over them), The Armed Forces bowl will take SMU at home, especially because this will be their last year (or one of their last years) in CUSA, Beef O'Brady's will most likely take whichever eastern team that becomes eligible, be it ECU or Marshall. That leaves Tulsa being the CUSA representative if Houston should lose in the Championship. If they don't, I think CUSA won't fill their bids and Tulsa will be the one sent to Hawaii and New Orleans ends up fishing for At-Large teams. If that's the case, its a weird situation, because we will be rooting for more big name teams to become available which will open up our options. The problem with this is it kind of hurts the conference, because presumably, that will take bowl spots away from FIU and WKU as potential at large teams.
I'm with Kyle. I'd rather get someone from an AQ conference. With no red. As this is a Sunbelt bowl, are the Cajuns the default home team?
Southern Miss...win or lose CUSA championship is going to the Liberty Bowl. Lose....Houston goes to Sugar Bowl...S Miss to Liberty. Win...S Miss goes to Liberty Bowl...Houston could be open for New Orleans Bowl. Houston wins...4 CUSA teams available for 6 bowl tie ins. Houston loses...5 teams available for 6 bowl tie ins. Big East could have everyone bowl eligible. UCONN needs two wins to get to 6 wins...they are beating Rutgers 14-0 right now and play Cincinnati next weeked and need to win. Syracuse needs to win one game out of two and is leading Cincinnati 3-0 right now. South Florida needs to beat West Virginia next weekend to get to 6 wins. Pittsburgh needs to beat Syracuse next weekend to get to 6 wins. The more BCS teams that get bowl eligible the better the chances for us to have a BCS opponent in the New Orleans bowl. No MAC...dont want.
The bowl eligible MAC teams in the At Large Pool will be atrocious. The MAC is bad enough, add that we wouldn't be in the running to choose Temple, NIU, or Toledo, and its obvious that the NO bowl will fight tooth and nail to not have a MAC team there. Ohio would be the only one deserving of an atlarge, and I don't think they brought anyone to the bowl last year. That will ward off NO from wanting to re-invite them. With all that said, we want the Big East, and Big 10 to have as many extra teams as possible, and if luck strikes and Texas Tech upsets Baylor, then we have an outside shot at a Big 12 opponent.

"Starting with the 2010–11 bowl season, the rule that required the selection of seven-win teams before any 6–6 teams was eliminated.[5] The first season of the new rule saw Temple go uninvited despite going 8–4, including a win over eventual Big East BCS representative Connecticut."
This was news to me, because I was under the impression that it still applied. This may help us.
Big East:
UCONN needs to win today against Rutgers(winning 21-10 right now) and beat Cincy next Saturday.
Syracuse needs to win today against Cincy. Tied 3-3 right now.
Pitt needs to beat Syracuse next Saturday
South Florida needs to beat West Virginia next Thursday
ACC:
North Carolina State needs to beat Maryland today. Winning 14-7 right now
Big Ten:
Purdue needs to beat Indiana today...starts at 230
Big 12:
Texas Tech needs to beat #18 Baylor today...highly unlikely.
SEC:
Vanderbilt needs to beat Wake Forest today.
Tennessee needs to beat Kentucky today...losing 0-3 right now.
Mississippi State needs to beat Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl today.
That maximizes BCS teams bowl eligible.
ISN'T IT ABSO-FRICKING-LUTELY COOL THAT THERE ARE TEAMS OUT THERE COUNTING WINS TO SEE IF THEY GET TO BE BOWL ELIGIBLE AND THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA GETS TO SIT BACK, AND WATCH THE SCRAMBLE FROM THE INSIDE? SO DIGGIN' ON THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!
