Would I be wrong in assuming that the university is still taking deposits for the "unnamed mystery bowl?"
Is the 39 just endzone or is that also upperdeck?
As Bird said, Mobile has no issue with ASU. Our fans travel really well, and we havent been to a bowl except for getting to pretend to be the home team in you guys lovely stadium a few years back.
Everything I understand is that no one is very excited about the possibility of being forced to take WKU. The same is true with FIU, but they are out of conference title consideration so no worries there. WKU would travel better then FIU would, but they've got history, and a 30 point loss to an FCS school going against them.
Just got this email from my pops:
"can you get away to attend the new orleans bowl if cajuns are in the game. i will pay for the tickets and the air fare"
Air fare from California is not cheap. I said I would only take him up on the offer if he came with me.
Got the letter from S Farmer about the ticket situation for the NO Bowl-----Teams have lost their ___ off in these Bowl games---Conn lost over a mil and a half and others were mentioned in this status----We MUST buy the tickets at the UL sites---Cajun Dome or the Tigue---WE get All the money up to a certain amount----This pays all the associated expenses of which there will be a ton even with NO so close---Hotels, Band travel and Hotels, meals, spending money---Everything---Hell ya'll get the idea----Pass the word!!!!
"these bowl games"
B-mer it sounds like you mad at em.
Amen i have been soapboxing the need to NOT buy from stub hub to my younger generation peeps daily, that site alone can crush any dreams of staying in the black
Even though no major promotion can really be done until we can an official invite, the planning on how the efforts should be made should have been started weeks ago. Any and all necessary departments (Athletics, Public Relations, UPC, SGA, Alumni, etc.) should be meeting to plan on how they are going to promote crap out of the bowl game. They need to have a plan of attack in place so once its official, they can hit the ground running!
For campus and current students - major signs all over campus, in the school newspaper, emails blasts to students and faculty, teachers promoting it in classes, athletes mentioning it in class, etc.
Off campus - TV commercials, radio commercials, email blasts to alumni, sponsors, donors, etc, ads in all the local newspapers, billboards, and much more.
Anybody with any inside information on how many deposits we have gotten for bowl tickets?
Not enough.
Even in the freak event of another bowl besides NO Bowl. . . consider the deposit a thank-you-$30 for a totally enjoyable season.
I heard something around 4,000 prior to last weekend. Certainly there are more now.
Once a bid/invite is official I expect to see a ton of tickets bought. I just feel that a lot of people are hesitant into putting money into something that isn't a definite yet. Mainly, I think a lot of people are waiting to make sure we go to the New Orleans bowl and not somewhere else. A lot of people will go to a bowl no matter where it is (Mobile, etc.) BUT I bet you anything that a TON more will be going WHEN we all find out it is in NOLA.
