Did he mention what the plans are for Matt Hicks? That kid was pitching out of his mind for the Cane Cutters... I really enjoyed that.
Matt Hicks will be middle relief and a bench option at 2nd with Simoneaux, behind Conrad.
I missed this thread, so I'll just copy what I put in the other one:
He mentioned specifically the 5 or so freshmen that he believes will play above the level of a freshman. Austin, Conrad, Cockrell, Butler and Girouard (I believe.) Mentioned that Austin and Cockrell have dominated our bats all fall, not just been good but dominant. Conrad will be penciled in at 2B but can get innings on the mound.
Butler, Jones and others will rotate at DH based on certain situations. They will get time in the OF as well. Can platoon at 1B and C with T-Fred/Compton and Strentz/Sinclair. Said Strentz may be our best outfielder being so athletic. He may very well get used in the OF at times when Sinclair is catching.
Snowden and Peterson are fairly mature with the bats but need to progress in the field. Likely to see mainly PH situations much of the time.
Austin, Kellogg and another one or two will be late inning guys a lot of the time. Hicks and a couple others to be more mid inning. Forgot where he specified a lot of the JC guys.
Jordan Bourque had a hook of the hamate fracture similar to what a couple guys have had in the past. He'll be out a couple weeks so Girouard will step in.
BOP, I agree that the time and place for specific facility improvements is with Scott. When will Scott be on? I mean he is now hired, his staff is hired, and we are not in the middle of recruiting. So he must have an hour or so to spend with the fans. Unless he is doing something truly important that is too hush, hush to even admit it exists. Does UL have the equivilent of an area 51?
Well, it's a little hectic right now. I'm out of town the rest of the week. The University is closed for Mardi Gras and I have baseball in Hammond next Wednesday.
Scott has been getting Ken Winstead situated. I think the new SID gets in tomorrow or Friday and Scott will be spending time with him as well.
I'll see if we can mesh our schedules, but I wouldn't expect him to come on til probably week after next.
