LOUISIANA La. - The University of Louisiana’s Lady Cajuns tennis team will host its annual Pepsi Challenge Classic Friday, Nov. 4 through Sunday, Nov. 6 at Cajun Courts.

In addition to host Louisiana, this event will feature 10 teams, including Alcorn State, Arkansas State, Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Northwestern State, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana and Southern Miss.

The tournament will include 56 players in singles competition, 29 in flight A and 27 in flight B. In doubles action, there will be 14 teams in flight A and 13 teams in flight B.

The opening round of singles play will begin Friday at 8 a.m., with doubles action following at 3:30 p.m.

For UL, four players will compete in flight A singles. Junior Chanell Meijer will start the Cajuns off at 9:30 a.m., followed by Celine Vanweydeveld, Tammy Day and Clemence Remy.

In flight A doubles, Vanweydeveld and Meijer will play Friday, at 3:30 p.m., followed by Day and Remy.

Flight B singles will feature three Cajuns. Marine Neveu will begin at 8 a.m., followed by Thais Bortoletto and Kimmie Lyles.

In flight B doubles, Bortoletto and Lyles will play Friday at 3:30 p.m.

This is the last scheduled fall tournament for the Cajuns women. The 2006 spring season will begin Jan. 21, 2006, when UL faces in-state rival LSU.
