Yea I mean I completely agree, I thought it sounded absurd as well. And honestly, I think HUD is starting to fall in love with Lafayette and see major potential here. I mean the fact that he has so much passion and got so choked up in those interviews shows how much this team really does mean to him... it's not a front at all. I can't see him wanting to leave after only 1 season... I see him being here for at least 3 seasons while building up a stellar resume'.

Just my thoughts, I hope I'm right.

Make no mistake about it, Lafayette has an affect on ppl. Coach's wife loves this place, and you guys know how much that plays at home. HUD is falling for our little piece of the country and who could blame him..

Here's my understanding of where things are in Oxford at this time:

Archie and Mike Glenn will head the search committee, which will also consist of at least one former player and two others. The AD search will materialize a little slower, and Boone (current AD) will have no say so in the coaching search.

From what I hear, Hud is on the list, although he's a little further down on the list than others. I think him only having one successful year thus far is going to keep him off of a BCS radar for at least another year. And while I believe that Hud will be successful wherever he goes, I almost hope for his sake he holds out for a little while longer. Obviously, I want him to keep building what he's started here, but also Ole Miss will be a very tough job over the next 2 years. Nutt is leaving very little depth, not much in the QB spot, only one RB, a terrible OL, and a very think Defense.

Also, I can promise you that nobody, not even Hud, has been offered $10M.

The names at the top of the list, from what I gather, are Smart (provided we can get a top notch OC as well), Malhazan (which I think would be a bad hire), Diaz, Holtz, Sumlin, Hud and Hugh Freeze.

It will be interesting to watch, no doubt. I don't think the Cajuns have too much to worry about, at least not yet. But that may very well change here soon.

I don't know if Miles OR Saban is getting $TEN million right now! I do feel bad for Houston because I knew he and his brother from their playing days at OK State.

I hope coach HUD stays. If he stays their is real potential here at UL. If UL started to win 9 games a year you would see attendance explode. We not talking 30k we talking 50k. Other conferences will take notice. You really could turn this into a top notch program. Kinda like Louisville or Virginia Tech if he chose to stay here long term.

It's like the majority of the fan base WANTS Hud to find another college with always bringing up these threads... Or Just don't want to believe/understand the reasons to why Coaches become coaches in the first place....(or atleast monumental ones)

Let this man build us a dynasty and stop trying to look for reasons to leaving us soon. This man believes in our potential.....when will you? Let him build it...

Waldo, people realize how fortunate we are to have Hud and don't want to lose him. Many of those same people can't believe we have such a good thing going at UL and that the first thing they think of, is that it will end. Fans just aren't accustomed to such great things happening in football, it will take a little time. Hud will be at UL as long as he wants, and I believe like you do, that he wants to build something special, and is not here just to jump at the earliest opportunity.

Whether he leaves or not everyone on this board knows coach HUD deserves coach of the year. Diehard Saints fans felt the same way about Sean Peyton leaving when the Saints won the superbowl.

Coach Hud can build us into the next Boise State and need not leave as we grow into something special. The grass isn't always greener at a BCS school.

Most of us know that this area and university are special places AND have the "potential" to grow as large as we can imagine. We have been forced to underachieve for so long a lot of people think that is the way it will always be.

We have planted a few seeds in a new president, a new basketball coach, a new football coach and a new athletic director. Now the seedlings are growing; we can begin to see the sod growing. Let's go to the New Orleans Bowl and let the sod turn into a field; then we'll keep this green green grass of home right here in our backyard!

We all have a part in this seeding process.
