Thread: Last play of the game?

I have watched the end of that game over and over again. Seems to me ULM used their time outs unwisely. Did not manage the clock at the end of the game. The QB wasn't looking at any clock existing or non existing. They just ran out of time. Thats football sometimes. Losing with dignity is so much prettier then excuses.

I know it'll cost $$$, but we need at least a working game clock on that side of the field.
Does every other stadium in the Belt have scoreboards at both endzones with game clocks? Looking at photos of the Chickenhawk Roost or whatever they are calling Malone I only see one scoreboard there in one endzone.

    Seriously, no.

The only reason there is an old scoreboard on that end is because we have a new one.

How should a qb see how much time is left in the game? Turn your head and look at the working scoreboard that has been there the entire game. I don't think you will find a game clock in more than one location in many of the stadiums across this wide USofA ... it shouldn't have been an issue.

They didn't save a timeout... and could have... and they needed it. They were driving toward that endzone for the entire second and fourth quarter.

At the end of the prior play, the ULM QB should have looked back at the game clock (again, the same place it was for 2 quarters for him) if he was unsure of the time remaining and the fact the clock was running with no timeouts left. His team failed to get lined up quickly. The only clock that mattered was the game clock since they were down to 20 seconds. ULM had to either chunk a ball downfield hoping for a completion/TD or pass interference call. If they were going for a sideline completion and out of bounds to stop the clock, I'll call BS... that is not what was set up. Their coach messed up by exhausting his timeouts, they were unable to move the ball far enough downfield in that final minute, and that final play was a total mess. Game over!

Oh, but we do need to get a working game clock in that endzone.
I believe the game clock was working - it automatically goes off when the game time left is less than the 25 second clock; or something like that.

Never mind. I understand your last comment now.

One thing I never understood; the ULM qb HAD to know there wasn't much time left. On the last play of the game, how could you possiby run out of bounds?

I don't think he saw the ref call the previously play down in bounds. I was on the rail and had a perfect view. He should have seen that. I don't think he did.

suck it Hoax, you guys lost, regardless if time had been stopped on the previous out of bounds play, you still wouldn't have had enough time running that play, scrambling around, then running out of bounds with the hopes of anytime left for another play!! Terrible time management, from a high school run sideline!

We do however need to get the old scoreboard up and working (can't be that difficult) or get rid of it! I've brought numerous "new cajun" fans to the swamp this year and had to explain why the old scoreboard isn't operational, not sure why actually, but something needs to be done before next year.

I agree with you on that; but I don't remember him ever looking at the clock. Just a huge implosion on their part - and they all played a part in it! Not to give them too much credit - we made the plays! They get an assist.

I think he thought the clock stopped on the previous play. That is the only explaination that makes sense. If the clock was stopped, that would make more sense as to why he was moving players around (in motion) and taking his sweet assss time to hike the ball. I'm pretty sure he is the only person in the stadium that did not know what was going on.

    ENTIRELY HIS FAULT!!!!

If the clock was stopped then when he ran out of bounds he would have still had at least 10 seconds on the game clock for 1-2 more plays.

I think that we lost to an intercept of Morel's pass with ball on the 8 yard line in the last seconds to LOSE (SP---LOL) to Monroe one year ---tough but no excuses!!!!

I say we build two more old broken scoreboards with non-functioning clocks... stick them beside the good and broken scoreboards... and year after next... ULM will lose by 80 points... and cry in their spilt milk even bigger than this year!
