Look, I know this board has seen more than enough of the "fan leaving early" threads. But what I saw last night was embarrassing.
You had people giving up and leaving, in droves, when we were down by only 4. And of course, when ULM scored to go up by 11, people couldn't make it to the gate fast enough.
Those people missed definitely the greatest finish at Cajun Field that I have every seen in my 30 year lifetime. I was there for Texas A&M upset, but that game did not have the near miracle turn-around that we witnessed in the last 3 minutes last night.
I do want to say this, and maybe I need to put it in a letter to the Daily Advertiser because I'm pretty much preaching to the choir here: Lafayette, you say you want a winner, you have one now! Treat these guys with the same respect as you would treat a winner, which means, DO NOT empty out of your seats and head to your vehicle during a 4 point game when our guys need you the most!
Again, I was embarrassed and felt sorry for our players and coaches that so many fans gave up on them so easily. Did I think we were going to pull that off? No. I was already planning for a loss in my head. But my daughters and I stayed, hoping for any chance...TD, onside, TD...and we got exactly that!
What a finish!
