Desormeaux is doing a great job, but don't forget that the main part of ther offense was FENROY. If Jerry's passing can be blended in correctly with FENROY's running.............an almost unstoppable offense will emerge (if we don't drop passes) Don't forget.............Jerry can run tooOriginally Posted by manizzle
Wait until Chery gets the offense down, he's got 4.3 speed.
Also, Deon Wallace will be playing next year. I can't wait, it'll get ugly for some opponents.
Coach adressed the switch on his radio show tonight. He defended the switch and said that if we don't have the dropped passes or the receiver falling down after making the catch we probably score on those two drives. I see his view that those drives stalling were not necessarily Babb's fault but I still believe the momentum changed at that point. I would have prefered to keep going with Des until troy stopped him.Originally Posted by shof
Once again, I can only rely on what I heard, but it's my understanding that a big reason that Fenroy was able to break out was because troy was focusing on stopping MD. From what I understand, they were shooting the D-ends up the field (which opens up the middle) and they put a linebacker spying on MD, which also aids the running game. It's my opinion that, until they can stop the run, keep at it, and if we score on those 2 drives...then you can put babb in with a little bit more of a cusion. This will allow him to relax and get back into the groove of playing again, without the stress of it being a closer game. Also, I understand that had there not been some dropped balls, Jerry's #s would have been better, but that is more of a reason to keep MD in...if passes are dropped, then capitalize on the run until you have to pass. Just my opinion...Originally Posted by RedBug58

A dropped pass is something that you shouldn't take Jerry out the game and put Mike in for. If Jerry is hitting the recievers on the mark and their dropping passes, coach will take them out of the game and put someone who can. Don't take a QB out of the game because the recievers are dropping passes. Their in college now not highschool, they shouldn't be dropping passes when it's hitting them in the hands. And if you remember last year, all the teams had a spy on Jerry because he lead the team in rushing. Did we win the last two games? Yes, but it wasn't because of the offense. It's because the defense held Middle Tennessee last week, and in the 1st half of this week against Troy.

How many points did Middle Tennessee score? How many points did Troy score in the first half? I'm not saying that the defense didn't blow the lead in the 2nd half of the Troy game, but for a game and a half they had 10 points against them.

I'm also saying that while Babb's #s would have been better if not for dropped passes, that's more of a reason to not throw the ball. Once Babb gets back to full speed and starts running like he did last year, perhaps he should beat out MD and start. But as long as we're not as effective while he's in the game, and it's not working (no matter who's fault it is), changes have to be made. Just my opinion.

I agree you play the hot hand, I was just saying that the drops shouldn't happen and that you have to throw it sometime or else they'll put 9 in the box and make you throw it.
