UL Football Football Recruiting - Local flavor

Does anyone know if UL is looking at the following guy from Northside?

Defensive lineman Jarrod Shaw, a 6-foot-5, 325-pound NHS senior

I know size isn't the only thing you look at; but he sure seems to be a load!

Any other schools looking at him?

    Shof

I won't say that the Cajuns have no shot.....but Michigan, Tennessee and others like that are in on him big time.

Thanks. The article I was looking at didn't mention any schools, so I had to ask. Would be nice to add some more beef to the line, especially if its "prime".

I did not know how correct this is, but I was told that UL has never been to the Northside campus. I hope this is bad info.

I'd find that hard to believe. You would certainly think they have a good relationship with all the local programs. Maybe not the top dog; but certainly someone on the staff. Didn't they recruit a running back from NS last year?

Coach Cordell Bailey who was on Coach Baldwin's staff is now coaching there. I'm sure there is some contact there.

Trae Fitzgerald is a guy that I would like to see us go after. He is an OLB at Comeaux. I have been watching him since his freshmen year and he is a very talented player. I have seen him on a few websites as a guy we r recruiting.

The only site I visit is Rivals and we aren't on their radar yet. I realize its early; but it would be nice to see who we are looking at and who is looking at us. What websites have you been looking at? From what I understand, this year's class will be limited in numbers due to available scholarships; so we've got to get some quality!

Lets hope we get our lions share of lineman for both sides of the ball. We also need linebackers and probably a kicker/punter as well as a couple of D-backs and wide recievers!

Do you really think we will go for some skill position players and DBs? We seem pretty stacked at those positions and very young! I heard we only have 12 to hand out.....9 of the 12 needs to be some of the biggest, strongest, ugliest guys they can find!

And with so few scholarships to offer, we can't afford to miss on many. I agree we need to focus on the bigger body positions this time around. Obviously you don't pass on a gifted skill position player if he comes around; but the focus should defintiely be on OL, DL and LB. Just my 2 cents.
