Thread: We may not be a lock for a bowl just yet.....

Default We may not be a lock for a bowl just yet.....

FIU is sitting at 5-3 and will be favored in all 4 of their remaining games. If they win out they will get to 9-3. If we were to lose out and finish 7-5 and FIU goes 9-3, they could get picked ahead of us. FIU's remaining games are against WKU, FAU, ULM, and MT.

The other team besides ASU that we have to worry about is WKU. They are sitting at 6-6. They do play LSU later this year which I am couting as a loss. There other remaining games are against FIU, NT, and Troy.

WKU and FIU play each other, so one of the teams will lose which will help the Cajuns, but I guess the worse case senerio (if UL were to lose out) is for WKU to go 3-1 and finish 7-5 and ahead of the Cajuns in the SBC standings and have a head up win over the Cajuns and for FIU to go 8-4 and finish ahead of the Cajuns and finish with more wins.

We are close to a lock to get in but I don't think it is a lock just yet.

I hope Coach Hud is saying this exact thing, plus telling them to take one game at a time.

What I heard Jay say is that because the New Orleans Bowl had the conference champ in it LAST year, this year they can take whoever they want as long as the conference champ is accommodated in a bowl somewhere, and word is they WANT us!!

NO has to take the champ 2 out of 4 years, starting last year. They took the champs last year, so now they just have to take the champ 1 time in the next 3 years.

As unfair as it may seem, this year as long as the conference champ is placed in a bowl the NO Bowl can take us even if we only have 7 wins over any other team. And considering how ____ poor FIU's attendance was for their home games I don't think anyone will be jumping to invite them even if they do win out.

It ain't over til its over. Let's get our 8th win this week vs. ULM to secure that bid.

You say that, then someone will start a thread next week about needing to get 9 wins.

To the OP, listen, this isnt conference realignment. FIU doesnt get in bc of market. The NO Bowl wants fans at the game and to sell tickets. They'd rather not have FIU only bringing 3000 people. And conference standings have jack ____ to do with who gets into bowls. See 2008 (FAU a game behind us getting a bowl)

We all know bowl games are about nothing but money. New Orleans will do what they need to get us there. We will bring more people to the New Orleans bowl than a Tulane home game.

I agree we are New Orleans bound but we need to finish this thing off. I don't want to hear how someone else got the shaft. It would also be good if we went as SBC champs because that opens the gate for future trips without having to be the champ.

The last thing we want to do is just slide in because we are eligible and leave other SBC teams sitting at home with better records. There would be an uproar to change the rules for future bowl apperances.

Let's take care of business. If we are 9-3 and SBC champs you won't hear a peep out of anyone.
