We all know bowl games are about nothing but money. New Orleans will do what they need to get us there. We will bring more people to the New Orleans bowl than a Tulane home game.

I agree we are New Orleans bound but we need to finish this thing off. I don't want to hear how someone else got the shaft. It would also be good if we went as SBC champs because that opens the gate for future trips without having to be the champ.
The last thing we want to do is just slide in because we are eligible and leave other SBC teams sitting at home with better records. There would be an uproar to change the rules for future bowl apperances.
Let's take care of business. If we are 9-3 and SBC champs you won't hear a peep out of anyone.
Scott Farmer is conducting a press conference at this moment. He mentioned that New Orleans Bowl tickets can be reserved now to then hold them until the official word comes later from the bowl representatives.
I would fully expect there to be a ruling, to be known as the "Wright Waters Rule", to come out as soon as the conference games are over. He needs to leave his legacy ... I won't discuss the rule; you can guess it's purpose.
Being 9-3 and outright champ sure does eliminate some possible problems! Am i wright?
9-3? You meant 10-2. Regardless, I like what you're thinking. Most people are talking about making arrangements in New Orleans because it's the smart thing to do. I don't equate what people on here say about being excited and whatever... with what the football team does to keep their heads focused on the best possible outcome for the season.
UL taking deposits for tickets to the new orleans bowl. I'd say it's as close to a lock as you can get without the formal announcement.
I discounted the Arizona game from my logic and was thinking more about knocking off our remaining two SBC opponents. Truth be told this weekend is key. Not only is it ULM but a win guarantees we finish no worse than 6-2 in league play.
Running the numbers in conference based on best finish for everyone else and worst finish possible for the Cajuns if we win Saturday.
Cajuns 6-2 in league play.
Five other teams do no better than 5-3 if they win out every conference game. Obviously not possible by all.
FIU can finish at 6-2 in league but we have the head to head victory. They will have a hard time arguing our selection.
WKU could finish league at 7-1. They have a game at LSU also so overall record will be 7-5 at best. They would finish one ahead in league play with a victory over us but 7-5 overall. A case could be made for them but I doubt these guys run the table in the SBC. I think they will drop at least one more game to finish league at no better than 6-2.
ASU could finish league at 8-0 and 10-2 overall. I believe they have a legitimate shot at doing just that. ASU will do enough to take one of the two bowl spots.
That leaves us and WKU for the other bowl spot. We all know that we will get taken prior to WKU but to keep the arguing to a minimum it would be nice to have the better record on our side. If we both win out in conference we will have identical 7-1conference records. We need WKU to drop at least one game of the final three conference games. That would give them an overall record of 6-6 if you assume the LSU loss. Very easy to justify us over a team with a 6-6 overall record.
So if we take care of ULM and FIU takes care of WKU any potential arguments are out the window.
