I need a learning opprotunity here. Why would you sign a field goal kicker & not be willing to take the red shirt off of him if needed? I would think a guy good enough to garner a scholly for kicking would have to have a pretty strong leg. I wouldn't care where he kicks it as long as it goes somewhere in the last ten yards of the field to the end zone with pretty decent to good hang time. The field kicking game is attrocious & obviously the weakest part of this team. It would be tremendously disappointing to lose the SBC, or a chance to kick the crap out of Arizona, or our bowl game because of such poor kicking.

At this point, Alvarez is not ready to kick. Most of these high school kickers get very little instruction during the football season. These that go to kicking camps run by former college or pro kickers get better instruction. He has a strong leg, but he doesn't always know were he is kicking it. People forget, you're kicking in high school on a different tee and 10 yards closer on kick-offs. You get a better idea of what a kicker can do if they come to your kicking camp and you make them kick-off a college tee and from a college distance. Bottomline, some kids take time to develop and next season will decided whether he has a future in this program or not.

No eligibility but it is a special feeling to KO and then make the tackle---Faulkinberry didn't think the Kicker should be the safety!!! Did you see where a 61 year old guy is kicking straight-on style for some college this year??? Naw better not even think it!!!!

Coach Hud indicated in this morning's comments that taking the redshirt off of Alvarez is being given
    serious consideration.

Can a rule guy tell me if the KO has to be within the Hash marks???? Need to know the answer per my strategy!!! If you can kick off outside the Hash---put Baer about 5 yards from the side line and let him aim to about the 20 yard line of the opposite side with his sky kick---Say it gets to the 20 yard line--It would be a 50 yard coverage by the KO team (30 yard line to the opponents 20)----Damn now I need to know the width of the field---Anyway square the 50 yards and square the width of the field less the 5 yards ( I guess this would be a random distance) ---Add the 2 and get the square root---Old formulae never die---Anyway now you get the distance that his kick must travel----I say about 65 yards---Well maybe to the 25 or 30 If our 40 times are 4.5s our in unis a 50 time say is 5.5----Anyway Let's do something!!!!

Have open tryout. Go to the soccer fields by the Frat houses. Find the guy with the strongest leg give him a shot.

Time to raid the soccer team or the rugby team.

Why was Baer kicking those 30 yard pop-ups that game them the ball at their 40 yard line or better? I don't understand the logic in that. Surely, he can kick to ball at least to the 10 or 15 yd. line which is better than the 35 or 40.
