Soileau Released From Hospital, Awaiting Extradition

Despite being injured in a shootout with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Brian Soileau, the escaped inmate from Evangeline Parish has already been released from an Oklahoma City hospital.

Soileau's 13 days on the lam came to a dramatic end Wednesday morning when he was recognized in an Oklahoma City Walmart.  That led to a 30 mile car chase, in which troopers say Soileau reached speeds of 95 miles per hour, going the wrong way down the interstate.

"I knew if someone came across him, he was going to run," said Soileau's mother-in-law, Renee Swain.  "I'm just thankful no one else got hurt, that was our big fear that he was going to take out someone elses husband or father."

Soileau was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail at 10:39 Wednesday night and is awaiting extradition back to Louisiana.
