This is from a story I wrote in August of 2009:
Nice leg
The Cajuns worked Lance Kelley, a converted wide receiver now playing strong safety, as a kickoff specialist on Thursday.
Kelley was a jack-of-all-trades player during his prep career at St. Thomas More. The sophomore played in two games at wide receiver last fall before suffering a broken left fibula and torn ankle ligaments in the second game of the year at Illinois. After surgery, he was moved to defense in the spring.
"He's in the mix (for kickoffs)," Bustle said. "He came to me before we started practice and said he had been working on his kickoffs. I told him I would give him a chance, so I'm letting him do it a little bit."
The two kickers competing to do field goals and point-after attempts — redshirt freshman Brett Baer and junior Tyler Albrecht — are also fighting for kickoff duty. Albrecht has not been kicking recently due to a sore leg, Bustle said.
