UL Football Is the Football team in shape?

Is the Football team in ship shape? I don't think it is. Not marathon shape, not four-quarter shape.

I know they do weight lifting and all, but what do they do in the way of endurance training?

This is what I recommend for endurance
Sunday: Rest and Recover (UL practices that is fine)
Monday stretch Run 3 miles stretch
    Tuesday Sprints: stretch 1/4 mile, stretch 1min 10 x 10 yds. stretch 1min 10 x 20 yds. - stretch 2min 10 x 40 yds. - stretch 2min then 1/4 mile cool down.
Wednesday stretch Run 3 miles stretch
    Thursday Sprints: stretch 1/4 mile, stretch 1min 10 x 10 yds. stretch 1min 10 x 20 yds. - stretch 2min 10 x 40 yds. - stretch 2min then 1/4 mile cool down.
    Friday: Rest and Recover
Saturday ready to play full speed ahead for 5 quarters.

    UL 1984, 1999 . . . . Re: Is the Football team in shape?

Well at least our guys would be ready incase of a marathon race is coming up. We are already small as it is, and having them do all that running would make some players lose about 20 pounds. Would they be in great shape? Yes, but our Line would average about 220, instead of about 270-280 pounds.

I have been thinking about this for a few days -since you posted- I think the answer is no. I made a related post on the subject here link I'm sure the players feel like they are in shape -and they are- but there is no mistaking there is some sort of drop off in the 4th.

As far as following AboveAverage regimen, WOW you are one tough cookie! For recievers and defensive backs OK, but can you come up with something that won't melt muscle for the linemen?
