You’d hate to be a receiver for the Louisiana-La. Ragin’ Cajuns.
Your quarterback, a redshirt freshman by the name of Michael Desormeaux , can’t seem to get you the ball. He`s actually your team’s second-leading rushing, right behind a guy named Tyrell Fenroy who rumbles for about six yards per carry.
So you might as well save that touchdown celebration for the alumni game, because by the looks of things, your Cajuns will likely keep their ground game going, even tonight against SBC rival Arkansas State.
With all this running going on, over backers will be glued to the nationally televised game (ESPN-U), screaming for a pass. The total is set at 51 points for tonight`s contest, and these clubs could have trouble toppling that number if the clock is running all game with rushing plays. The Ragin` Cajuns have already slipped under three of the four totals they`ve seen this season and there isn`t much pointing to a sudden wave of points.
Unless, that is, if Desormeaux starts coughing up the ball like he`s been known to do this season.
“I think that’s why the total is where it’s at,” says Covers Expert Carlo Campanella. “Even if it’s going to be more of a ball control game, turnovers can make up for it with a quick touchdown.”
Since taking over for regular starter Jerry Babbe two weeks ago against Central Florida, Desormeaux has thrown four picks and no touchdowns.
“He was thrown into a game two weeks ago and before he had time to realize that, he was in there,” Lafayette head coach Rickey Bustle told the Jonesboro Sun. “He came out and did a nice job. He struggled a little bit last week, and we had some drops early in the game that I think would have given any young quarterback confidence.”
