Thread: Legends Remembered: Louisiana's Dwight "Bo" Lamar

  1. UL Basketball Jon Teitel's "Forgotten Legends" Series: Louisiana's Dwight "Bo" Lamar

JT: You lost a three-point home game to Baylor during your sophomore year, then never lost another home game during the rest of your career. How close did you come to winning that game, and how big of a home-court advantage did your fans provide?

DL: That Baylor game was a close one. Our fans were the greatest, so playing at Blackman Coliseum was a big advantage.

Pardon my ignorance, but I didn't know Bo was that far up the list. Why is he left off of a lot of ncaa record lists for career points?

Split his career between two NCAA ranking systems. UL moved up to the University Division from the College Division.

Same level of excellence in both, with no drop off in production.

Thanks Turbine. That's what I figured, but got confused because the article says he's 2nd behind Pistol but mentions both D 1 and D 2.

    Yeah very confusing.

University Division became DI, at the same time College Division became DII.

Because of the timing UL has always been D1 . . . or just as long as anyone else has been D1.

I didn't realize he had such a good career in the ABA.

  7. Default Legends Remembered: Louisiana's Dwight "Bo" Lamar

(Last January) Jon Teitel spent some time with UL legend Dwight "Bo" Lamar. One of the most prolific scorers in NCAA history, Lamar still ranks second all-time in points scored.
