Besides that, all of the "people in the know" all seem to think it is a done deal. Also, UL has started taking deposits on ticket reservations. Has that EVER happened before? I know those are not "in concrete" enough to say that we are 100% guaranteed to be in. But I'd say we are as close to being a lock as can be.

Question: I've heard it said 100 times now that the New Orleans Bowl is a done deal. But there are three teams in conference that are pushing this thing to the wire. What if Ark State wins out along with Western and we end up with a great record but third in the final conference standings. Are we left at home even with say a 9-3 record?

I get a "kick" out of that. You forgot Loosie.

Oh! And by the way, the New Orleans Bowl is not a given. It's an "earned" and a lock.

Well at least you have reservations.

My hooked on fonics training just kicked in.

Lucy is Ben Tover, a training table in the UL locker room.

Very strange. Who knew Ben Tover was a girls name?

If you go back and read this thread or any other thread, conference standing only apply when placing the conference champion in a bowl game. After that $$$ talks and UL will have these bowl games seeing $$$. NO bowl only has to take the conference champion 2 out of every 4 years. They took Troy last year as co-champion so they have 3 years to take the champion again. If we wind up not being the champs, they'll have 2 years to take the champ again because they are NOT passing on UL this year.

Besides all the other reasons listed, Western will not win out they will lose next week at LSU A&M @ BR and at best be 7-5. The NO bowl will not take them over even a 8-4 UL team. Besides we will win Saturday anyway.

You must have done well in school; you do your homework. The ones that don't care to do their homework OR listen to the smarter ones in the classroom just don't get it.

You do. There are other smart people in this classroom. Would the other ones please go over their notes again.

There is no parade, just a fan promenade from the team hotel to the event. They need to have a parade, however.

You haven't posted too much this year ... I wondered if all was ok. You guys set the attendance bar; no offense but we would like to reset it!

CBS is projecting Birmingham for us

Does anyone have an idea, not based on rank speculation, about what the respective payouts might be for us in the Compass Bowl v. New Orleans Bowl?

No doubt that the NOB wants us, but would we be better off in a different bolw in terms of prestige, recruiting, etc?

It's cost versus revenue. No matter what the New Orleans Bowl pays out that bowl will be the less cost champion. Granted going to Birmingham is no pocketbook buster either, it's just common sense that going to New Orleans is going to be the only way to go if we want to maximize revenue and minimize costs.

I feels ya on the costs side of the equation. And I also understand that our ability to mobilize to New Orleans is far greater than to Mobile or Birmingham, but it seems to me that the analysis is only half done if we don't know the relative payouts. Are both bowls paying us in tickets? Is there a sizeable difference in net? Can we recruit better off of one or the other?
