Thread: New Orleans Bowl good deal for Cajuns

I don't know about ya'll, but if we win out AND the only party I get invited to is in New Orleans... I'm a happy man!

New Orleans Bowl will help us tenfold... recruit new fans, recruit local players, exposure in our home market...

I'll take NOLA Bowl this year and then spread my wings. We can't jump 10 miles ahead... we weren't even mentioned to be in this position before the season.

    One step at a time!

2001 Boise misses a bowl thanks to La.Tech, who turned down a trade that would have sent Tech to New Orleans, Colorado State to Silicon Valley, opened Boise for the Broncos and would have sent MTSU to Boise.
2002 11-1 Boise again plays and wins at home.
2003 12-1 Boise goes to the not any more prestigious Ft.Worth Bowl to play TCU at the Horned Frogs field and wins.
2004 11-0 Boise goes to the Liberty, first "upgrade" in game they had made. Lose to Louisville.

Boise never thought playing in bottom tier bowls was beneath them. While other schools were getting a "bowl experience" seeing a new city and getting to travel, they were sitting in their dorm rooms until the night before the game except when they had to go to a banquet across town.
Ok, you are going to have to leave this board if you continue to post facts! jk

I wonder what South Alabama is thinking with their entry into the Sun Belt in what, 2013?

It also could have worked out pretty well for us if we had been in the New Orleans Bowl at Lafayette instead of you guys; we were playing GREAT at the end of that season!

Well, we're here now and we love it!

I really feel like we can pull 45-50k to new orleans and I would love to see the SEA of Red in the stands!
I think that is the first time Ive ever used see and sea in the same sentence in my life lol
We dont get 45-50k at home games 15 minutes from people's houses (maybe with tailgaters but not by much), I dont know how on Earth we are going to get that many to go to New Orleans. I'd love it, but that number is just setting yourself up for disappointment. That's really high estimate, probably almost double of what would likely happen. And I'd be way happy with 25k

one thing to take into account, i promise LSU wont have a home or away game on December 17th, i think we would draw a lot of different fans just because its in new orleans and will be one hell of a party. 45-50k is high but i dont see 30k out of the realm of possibility

If we are looking at total attendance I do think 45- 50k is possible; if we play So. Miss. I do think we will draw some New Orleans crowd coming to watch a Louisiana team. But be careful, if you come "We gotcha!"

About 2 hours before kickoff in Lafayette for the New Orleans Bowl I got a call from a guy I went to college with. He wanted to make sure there were tickets available at the window. He had seven others had gotten a wild hair to come to the game and were getting close to arriving when the issue of tickets hit them. They hadn't been to a game in years and hauled it down from Jonesboro to go. Cut the distance to a fourth of what they did and the number of people will shock you. There will be alums in the NO area, Houston, Mobile who haven't been on campus since graduation who will come.

A regular season home game is not the same as the first TRUE bowl game for the UL Ragin Cajuns....its possible
If 30k+ will go see UL play No name sun belt conference teams im sure more will go watch a bowl game 2 hours away

Bowl would be the best thing to happen for this program without question. The only thing remotely better would be a BCS bowl, which we have zero shot at right now. Maybe if we get a few bowl appearances and wins under our belt and build a stronger reputation, THEN let's talk! Right now - let's go bowling in New Orleans!!! Let's work on finishing out the season in style and packing the Superdome!
The reasons to discuss the topic have all been made evident by the posters who have informed all who read this thread of its content. I was of the same mindset as Raging Waldo at the beginning of the week as I'm sure a lot of fans or interested parties were. It is good to have discussions like this so everyone can be equally informed. Having heard the reasons for going to New Orleans & the reasons the team had never been invited to New Orleans to go along with the potential REAL payout for the school. Plus add in the free big time publicity that WWL will continue to give the school & the bowl game throughout the region as bowl time approaches & the New Orleans bowl could potentially be a sellout! It could certainly set the standard for the other bowls that may not approach NO bowl attendance figures until you get to the BCS games. This would be a major coup for UL, the SBC, & the city of New Orleans. When the totallity of it is taken into account it is a cinch that this is a marriage made in corporate heaven. Now the Cajuns must seal the deal! GO HUD!!! GO CAJUNS!!!!

  10. Default Bowl talk begins for Cajuns

While early ticket information was officially discussed in Monday's press luncheon, any specific bowl talk was put off for at least another week. While it's no big secret the UL Ragin' Cajuns will be playing in the New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 17 ...

    Default New Orleans Bowl Events

Since most of us have rooms reserved in New Orleans and many have already purchased tickets (deposit), I figured its not to early for this topic.

I was wondering if anyone knows when the New Orleans Bowl Parade will be. Looking under "Events" on the NO Bowl Website, nothing is listed yet.
