The University of Louisiana's football team combined parts of its regular Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday practices in a two-hour session Tuesday that wrapped up full-scale workouts for the season's shortest week.

The Cajuns play a rare Thursday night game, opening Sun Belt Conference play against Florida Atlantic in a 7:05 p.m. ESPN Regional (Cox Sports cable 27 locally) contest.

"The good thing about a Thursday game is it usually means you're on TV," UL coach Rickey Bustle said.

DEJA VU: Michael Desormeaux's relief effort as the Cajuns' quarterback against UCF Saturday was reminiscent of the last time a UL backup had to take over for an injured signalcaller.

Desormeaux replaced junior Jerry Babb after the fifth play Saturday when Babb suffered a sprained shoulder ligament, and finished 14-of-26 passing for 119 yards along with 76 rushing yards on 17 carries.
