TULSA, Okla - Just call it love at first sight.
After visiting Lafayette for the first time in her life, Val Amie fell in love with the city and its people and as a result has issued a verbal commitment to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball program.
"I got along really well with the girls," Amie said. "I really like the campus and I enjoyed the people. I like coach (J. Kelley) Hall's system and I think that it's going to be a great fit."
The 6-2 senior forward from Tulsa East Central High School in Oklahoma didn't make any other visits and as result chose the Cajuns over Missouri, Tulsa, Kansas, Arkansas Little Rock and Wichita State.
"I had visits planned," Amie said. "But I didn't make them because I didn't want to lead any of them on. I knew all along that UL was my first choice."
It's believed that Amie will grow at least two more inches. Her mom is almost 6-3 and her father Myrion Milton is 6-7.
Milton, who also is Amie's AAU coach, said "the sky is the limit" for her.
