Also, I'd rather something close to the French Quarter for the CONTINOUS PARTYING we will all be doing while down there!!! I only have to go to the dome for 3-5 hours of the entire trip.
Don't discount another bowl just yet, the thing you forgot was opponent. If we have the option of the New Orleans bowl against the #5 CUSA team or play in the Birmingham bowl against a Big East or a SEC team, I would be ____SSSSED if we turned down a shot at one of the big guys on the national stage at a drivable bowl game.
Also, the other thing would be what if ESPN came in with some money wanting to pit us (the flavor of the day) vs the MAC champion in say the GMAC bowl, again, we'd be crazy to say no.
With all that said, chances are that we will be New Orleans Bound.
The only way the Birmingham BBVA Compass bowl doesn't pit the Big East against the SEC is if they don't have an eligible team. Highly unlikely.
ESPN isn't throwing money at an SBC bowl game matchup. There is no way they could justify the money. Note that it is no longer the GMAC bowl. It is now the GoDaddy bowl. Apparently GoDaddy or someone else isn't happy with the current players either. After 2013 they intend to sign an agreement with the Big East and another "top ten Eastern team".
Hopefully our new Sunbelt Commissioner will be able to pursue other possible bowl tie ins.
Just called the Hyatt.
as long as you call 3 days prior there's no fee for cancellation.
First things first, Geaux Cajuns, Beat NT!
Now, with that out the way, talking about bowl games, which there is nothing wrong with fans talking about it, won't impact the game this weekend what so ever. I also would like the New Orleans Bowl for the many excellent reasons already stated. It would be a Ragin Party for sure. The way the bowls pick the teams these days, besides the top 4-6, and the way it is so convoluted on how they pick them, I wouldn't leave out any scenario. Of course, the better the record UL has, the better choices they will have and I want what is best for the team and University. Just being in any bowl would be fantastic, and I would be extremely thankful if we get there. Win the conference, which is still a tough task, and everything will take care of itself.
I currently have 11 rooms booked at the Marriott on Canal St. ($99.00 per night) in New Orleans for family and friends for the weekend of December 16-18. If the unthinkable should happen, we can cancel anytime with 72 hrs. advanced notice with no penalty. I know of several others that have also booked rooms or are planning to do so soon. It will be a great party in the Crescent City!!!!!!!
Being the selfish ofe that I am, I want the CAJUNS to play in New Orleans as well so I can just drive into town, party with everybody and see the game!!!
$89 rooms at the Hyatt. Not a bad deal for being close to the dome.
