Love the N.O. bowl this year.

We'll do something Tulane can't. Fill that stadium.

The N.O. Bowl can pick any team that is bowl-eligible, even if that team is not the conference champion. The caveat with this is that the conference champion has to be accommodated first. If we win the conference, N.O. will invite us and the only way we don't go is if we are invited to and choose to go to another bowl that can't fill their contractually-obligated spot. Even if we don't win the conference championship and are bowl eligible, N.O. Bowl would still like us because of our proximity and fan base - they've made that relatively public over the past few years.

But here's a possible scenario: Let's say that stAte happens to win the conference and we are bowl-eligible. GoDaddy would probably invite stAte because they would rather a conference champion. But stAte declines the invitation and would rather go to N.O. for whatever reason. And nobody else invites stAte. N.O. must then take stAte and we would go to GoDaddy Bowl.

At least, that's how I understand it...

But in my opinion, there isn't a "better" bowl than New Orleans at this time. Maybe down the road, but even if we finish 10-2, I still think its the best option.
------A State is trying big time to get into Louisiana and NO for recruiting-Will definitely choose the NO bowl with its help in the recruiting wars!!!!

Boomer remember the one problem with stAte recruiting is that at some point in time the recruit must actually go to Jonesboro Arkansas and decide if he wants to spend the next 4-5 years there!!!

I have a question for everyone. If everyone is already booking for N.O., which I have also been comptemplating doing soon, what about cancelation fees if we end up somewhere else or no where again? I don't want to book in N.O. just for us to end up in SD, Hawaii, Mobile, Detriot, etc, etc.

Help! I'm looking at a few hotels already. Does anyone know where the team would stay? When is everyone else going down? I was thinking on Thursday and leaving Sunday.

Forget about the other bowls. We havent been to a bowl game in 41 years, I want us to go the NO bowl with UL billboards all over that city promoting that game. Win here first then we will see about going other places later (hopefully)

Just ask the hotel that you are making reservations with what their cancellation policy is. Some you can cancel with no fees until a certain date; some charge a cancellation fee; some won't let you cancel at all.

I booked that the newly reopend hyatt adjacent to the dome on their website. Rooms are 109 and suites are 169. If you cancel within 72 hours notice there in no penalty

Also, I'd rather something close to the French Quarter for the CONTINOUS PARTYING we will all be doing while down there!!! I only have to go to the dome for 3-5 hours of the entire trip.

Better location? Well you can't get much better in terms of location. I mean a two hour drive, the Superdome, and New Orleans is a fun place to visit. So I just don't see anything here that would be better.

More prestige? Unless you are talking a BCS bowl I don't think many people diffirentiate between the rest of them. Even if we win out the BCS formula isn't going to put us in one of their bowls. The New Orleans bowl has previously had good TV ratings. I think we are good here.

More money? Incremental at best. I looked at all the bowl payouts and almost all the bowls that we would have a shot at aren't far out of the range that the New Orleans bowl pays. The Independence Bowl pays somewhere around 1.2 mil but most of the rest are below 800K. Most would also require considerably more in the way of travel expenses.

Bottom line is that I think the New Orleans bowl is a great fit. It's good for the team, expenses, and fans. Until we are busting into the BCS I'm more than happy with a trip to New Orleans.
Don't discount another bowl just yet, the thing you forgot was opponent. If we have the option of the New Orleans bowl against the #5 CUSA team or play in the Birmingham bowl against a Big East or a SEC team, I would be ____SSSSED if we turned down a shot at one of the big guys on the national stage at a drivable bowl game.

Also, the other thing would be what if ESPN came in with some money wanting to pit us (the flavor of the day) vs the MAC champion in say the GMAC bowl, again, we'd be crazy to say no.

With all that said, chances are that we will be New Orleans Bound.
