Thread: Baseball/Cajuns/Astros/Rangers

    Default Baseball/Cajuns/Astros/Rangers

The Cajuns baseball schedule for 2006 might be allready made out but if there are a few open dates left to fill during March, I thought of a idea. If it is to late this year maybe we could do it in 2007.

    * Being that we are allways hurting for money this would be a excellent foundraiser

    * Why not travel during March and play the Astros during spring training in (Kissimmee Florida) or the Rangers(Surprise Arizona) Get some people together to help sponser this trip and play them two games each.

    * The Astros and/or the Rangers could return the trip during March for a two game series at the Tigue. They would still be in spring training mode.

    * I believe this could generate huge money for the Baseball program. Granted more bleachers could be move to the outfield for fans. This could also give the players some experience against big leagers. Also wood bats could be used for the Cajuns.

    * Please give input on this and lets see if we can make it happen in 2006

    Interesting.

It has been done before, (1916) but with a GEAUX team. LINK

Maybe someone could pitch this idea to the coaching staff or some of the current players.

Obviously not. That's what it usually means when no one replies.

I will be seeing Jonathan Lucroy this weekend and will mention it to him. I will probably see at least one of the coaches and will mention to him also.

On a personal note, I would love to see the Cajuns play in Kissimmee or anywhere else in Florida.

There has been over 140 hits on this thread so there has to be somewhat of a intrest. It seems to me that you are not a true fan because you would be at least intrested in whatever it takes to generate money for the Cajuns Athletics programs.

I think it is a great idea but Robe is a very busy man and it will take a couple years to plan. There is no way to make this happen this year.
