Retro night? As in wore their old unis?

Anyone have pics of this? Anyone know if the school is thinking of selling their old uniforms?

For my money, those old unis with "RAGIN CAJUNS" in all caps are the best ever.

I second the motion, a picture would be nice.

I was there, and the only thing "retro" about the game was the fact that it was played in the LC Civic Center. However, retro unis for a retro game in Blackham Coliseum would be absolutely outstanding! However, I'd settle for just a retro game in Blackham. I mean, why the heck hasn't anybody ever said or done anything about this. Do they have any idea how cool a retro game in Blackham would be? Do they have any idea how desired this is?

    God Bless.

I was sports editor at The Vermilion right after the move into the Cajundome, and I wrote several columns about this very subject at the time. The silence from Reinhardt Drive was deafening.

I well remember the "good old days" I had retired from the USAF and decided to get season tickets, how that came about is another story. Anyway, there were boisterous crowds, the Red Dots were in existence, and the students were breathing down on the oppositions bench. The Marquette coach swore and be damned if he would ever, ever come back to Blackham.

Once the move was made the "atmosphere" was lost. It seemed like we were supposed to act in a manner befitting of the Cajn Dome's sterility. Anytime the subject of a game being played in Blackham was broached, the higher ups acted as though to do so was demeaning.

I for one am in favor of one game per season being played in Blackham. Maybe, just maybe, we would once again learn how to "raise the roof". Not just when something good happens, but through out the game.

I intend to broach the subject to the higher ups. I will probably get the look of "have you lost your mind"!!

We could do like the Arkansas football team does with War Memorial Stadium. Don't they only break it out on special occasions, like when LSU comes to town?

We could take the biggest name team on our home schedule and play them in Blackham. Could you imagine playing Southern Illinois or Western Kentucky in Blackham this year?

If we ever went back to Blackham, it would be loud. Very loud. The great thing about that place was, even if you only had 4,000-5,000 in there, it sounded like a madhouse.

Of course, back then we always had teams worthy of the applause.

What is the capacity of Blackham Col.? Does anyone have any pictures to post of the old Rajun Can uniforms? Would love to see them!

Baseball did a retro game with McNeese (last year or the year before) and then they sold the uniforms.

I wonder if the basketball players would be willing to play in real shorts like George Almones wore in 1985, instead of those . . .

Has anyone been inside of Blackhem lately because it is a ~~~~~ hole. Nothing works and it would cost the university too much money to repair. It is a great idea , but it is not realistic.

    Turbine, that's exactly the uniform.

TheFan, Blackham was a hole way back when. No improvements necessary, or even desired.

The Fan's post is the type of reply I expect to get when I approach some of the "higher ups". I will use your post, Air Bill, to reply to that negativisim.
