Thread: Softball Fall game this Saturday

Default Softball Fall game this Saturday

For those who'd like to get a preview of the 2012 Ragin Cajun Softball team, you can "make a pass" by the new Lamson Park this Saturday (October 8th) about 1:00pm and catch the first home fall ball game against Faulkner. The ladies got started last Saturday in Houston at the Spring-Klein College Classic, and played well in games against UTSA, Houston, and Texas State. They will play again on Saturday, October 15th at the Sugarland College Classic Showcase in SW Houston (schedule TBA), and then follow that with two home more home games against Nicholls and LSU-E.

You can make it a great day of tailgating, fall Cajun softball, and a great Cajun victory over Troy on Saturday night.

How did they do in the Houston Spring-Klein classic? No mention of the scores. Did they keep score of the games?

Mentioned in another thread, but they consider the seven inning games as practice and don't keep official scores. With that being said, in the first game we played UTSA, and tied 1-1. Shelbee Rogers started and pitched about half the game, and Jordan Wallace (true FR) pitched the second half. In the second game we played Houston and won 4-1, with Allie Chenault pitching a complete game. In the third game we played Texas State, and won 5-3. Maggie Ham (true FR) pitched the first half of the game, with Ashley Brignac finishing. They played a number of fielders, and hit more than the standard 9 batters in the hitting rotations (I think 11 or 12 batters). I didn't keep track of the individual hitting, but I know Brianna Cherry and Christi Orgeron had HR's during the day.

Noted that Christina Hamilton didn't pitch. Just curious. If she and Ashley are healthy this year along with our other returnees and new arms - could be a special year from the mound. We know what they return on defense and at bat. Will be a fun year.

She's still recovering from the knee surgery following the softball regionals last year, and I think they may take it slow to make sure nothing hinders her full recovery.

My memory is getting bad. Torn ACL suffered in Regional past spring. I believe it was noted that she would rehab but should be ready for spring. Holding out in fall. Thanks for reminding me. She's a great pitcher and a great kid. We have a chance for good depth at pitcher depending on how our freshmen do.
