It seems like this team does just enough to win each week but I get this weird feeling that they are always holding a little back for next week. After all the penalties and turnovers tonight they did just enough to pull out the victory. I only saw one trick play tonight. The pass was incomplete but we got a roughing the passer call. I can’t recall a trick play this year that hasn’t worked. Looks like Coach Hud knows just when to call them.
It was the first football game I've gone to in several years at Cajun Field. I had an absolute blast!
I was a bit miffed by the rather poor officiating that seemed to have occurred. That first fumble, the fumble on the sack, and also, that punt that we got the 98 yard drive off of - the FAU player had a foot on the goalline when he touched the ball - isn't that a touchback?
Either way, glad we got the win!
What the hell? Disappointed in the crowd, disappointed in the officiating, disappointed in the defense. I love the Cajuns and I left the game tonight feeling a lot of things, but I have to say, disappointment was not one of them.
Negative...in college football, the ball is the only thing that cannot cross the plane of the goal line. A player can run into the endzone...breakdance...do a backflip...and then stop the ball from crossing the goal line and it would be downed inside the 5. Your mixing up pro and college rules. The NFL rule is what you are thinking of. The refs were god awful. Missed multiple holding calls in the FAU backfield...called the punt interference penalty incorrectly...and were just overall a confused bunch. "Can you please reset the game clock to 10:54" Which the clock read...10:54. Clutch. Glad those refs were on their game. Saturday night in the Sun Belt...
I most definitely LOL'd at the "reset the game clock" episode. Thanks for clarifying the punt issue.
Do they find these football officiating crews on the outside of the same Home Depot where they pick up the refs for Sun Belt basketball games?
You know it! I was mildly disappointed in the crowd size, but not too bad. The game atmosphere was great! The Cajun "D" played well for most of the game. There were a few bad plays here and there which were costly, but most of the time they played pretty well. The offense has been pretty inconsistent. At times they look great, other times we get 3-and-outs. I hope they can get some consistency (the GOOD kind!) as the season progresses. Especially next week!!!
I am upset that the PA announcer did not have the Price Is Right failure music on a button ready to go, there will never be a more perfect moment for that to be played. Sun Belt refs...reminding the entire stadium that they are acutely unaware that the game clock is correct.
Let's have fun with this victory, hopefully Jay doesn't ruin it for us.
I guess I have enjoyed this win to the point where I have to say good night to CAJUN LAND!!!...This was a great day...GEAUX CAJUNS!!!
