My family's probably going to play a pick-up game in the backyard...does that count? We've been doing that for...well, it's going on 1 year now!

Thanksgiving Day games are a lost UL tradition.
UL has played around 30 games on the Thanksgiving Holiday.
The tradition was dropped in the late 40's or early 50's (going on memory)
The tradition predated the Lions game by over 30 years.
I would like to see the game brought back. In an age where schools are craving attention this would do it.
A noon game and all the families who came home would still have all evening to spend together.

Sorry Pup I'm going to hijack this thread.
What are you thankful for?
1. Family - Love them or hate them they are with you for life.
2. Cajun Football - I don't think I will live to see a good team win a conference but they keep me going.
3. God- See the above for blessing me with all this great stuff.
God Bless All and Happy Thanksgiving.
I think Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it is all about us. No presents etc... Just eating and giving thanks for what the lord has blessed us with.
Just like last year, the year before and the year before that, my brothers and I will be standing in wooden bleachers at 10 in the morning,_probably freezing, and watching the Swampscott- Marblehead high school football game in Massachusetts.
This is my annual (almost) thread (I think I have done 5) on playing a game Thanksgiving Day.
UL has a long history (not recently) of playing annually playing on Thanksgiving Day, most years it was at UL it was homecoming.
With the modern media climate I think going back to this format would allow UL to get some much needed exposure.
Move the South Alabama game up two days, get over dea-fears and make it happen.

Well I won't be there, Thanksgiving like Easter is a big family day plus thousands of students away on holiday. In addition you might say get over the fear, but two NFL games and now I think three with the NFL network you are fighting a big, big bear.
That is how you get the NFL to mention you Nation Wide during each of their broadcasts.
Exactly. There are 3 games. Maybe 1 college game. So when the scoreboard scrolls, We are every 5th score shown.
Think they could squeeze a SportsCenter highlight package into the show? Think ESPNU wouldn't jump on the opportunity to count that as one of the Sun Belt games they "have" to show?
One of the great things about the New Orleans Bowl is that there wasn't any competition that night for airtime. We got a lot more run because of the timing of the game.
Right on, Turbine.
I see some more schools are taking my suggestion.
Not what I had in mind.
